Meet Penny, subject of “Red Toy,” one of the thousands of iconic Weimaraner photos that make up the portfolio of renowned contemporary artist William Wegman.
This fall, Wegman shared a retrospective of his work with an audience of nearly 300 students, faculty, and staff in Northeastern’s Blackman Auditorium. The presentation featured some of his early nature sketches, black-and-white photographs of food, a humorous short film—and, of course, his unique photos of those famous dogs.
The painter-turned-photographer offered aspiring artists practical advice, as well as encouragement, stressing the importance of versatility, experimentation, and an open mind.
After all, Wegman pointed out, “For artists, everything is possible.”
