Sara Wadia-Fascetti, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, who serves as associate vice provost for faculty advancement, has been given the Sharon Keillor Award for Women in Engineering Education for 2006. Awarded by the American Society for Engineering Education, this national honor is given to one outstanding woman in engineering education each year.
The award acknowledges Wadia-Fascettiís research in civil infrastructure diagnostics and subsurface sensing and imaging, as well as her teaching, mentorship, and administrative leadership. Wadia-Fascetti was also praised for creating and implementing the
National Science Foundationñfunded Connections project, aimed at recruiting women and girls into science and engineering fields.
Two Northeastern professors have been awarded Faculty Early Career Development Program grants. Assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering Mehrdad Sasani and assistant professor of computer and information science Timothy Bickmore each won grants totaling in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
