A milestone reached: University cracks the U.S. News top 100
In what university officials are calling "an unprecedented ascent," Northeastern has reached the top 100 in the U.S. News & World Report ranking of national universities.
According to the 2007 edition of "America's Best Colleges," released in August, Northeastern is ranked at 98, a remarkable seventeen slots higher than its position last year. Since 2001, the university has advanced fifty-two slots.
Officials say this year's leap was largely fueled by a significant improvement in the university's peer-assessment scores, a measure of how others view its academic reputation.
And, for the fifth consecutive year, Northeastern is dubbed a "program to look for" within the "Internships" category, signaling a continued appreciation for the value of cooperative education.
