President Joseph E. Aoun and other prominent leaders in higher education met with President Barack Obama in January to discuss daunting higher-education issues, including access, affordability, and success for low-income students.
In recent years, North-eastern has taken many steps to support those three priorities. Most notably, it has committed to an unprecedented investment of $204 million in financial aid this year. The university also increased financial aid in each of the last six years. And this year, Northeastern has pledged 150 need-based, full scholarships to graduates from Boston public schools.
The higher-education summit included college presidents from around the country, state and city leaders, and top executives from private, nonprofit, and philanthropic organizations.
