MaryAnne Milley Allan, MEd'80, was named the 1999 Teacher of
the Year in Middletown, Rhode Island. A speech and language pathologist,
she has worked mainly with students from kindergarten through fourth grade
since 1980. She and her husband, Tom, have twin boys, Matthew and Michael,
who are in the eighth grade.
Brian Austin, LC'80, of Lynnfield, Massachusetts, is the owner
of Austin Service and Sales Company, a commercial HVAC contractor.
Richard T. Drew, UC'80, an N.U. bookstore employee for twenty-one
years, now works for Barnes and Noble College Bookstores at Florida International
University in Miami. His wife, Maxine Robinson, UC'83, is the credit
manager for Horner Equipment, a swimming pool equipment manufacturer in
Fort Lauderdale. "We have been living in the Miami area since 1991
and love it down here," he says. "I have re-established contact
with at least one classmate but would love to receive e-mail from others
who might remember Maxine and me from our group at the Rathskeller."

Steven J. Elliott, BA'80, of Westwood, Massachusetts, is a tax
compliance manager in the Boston office of Ernst and Young. He provides
services for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and estates, and teaches
tax classes for the firm. He's also an adjunct tax professor at Bentley
College's MST program.
Michael W. Smith, MA'80, PHD'83, L'93, of Malden, Massachusetts,
is a managing partner in the Malden law firm of Fagan, Froio, Galla and
Smith, with a part-time practice in business and civil rights law. He's
also an assistant professor of sociology at Saint Anselm College in Manchester,
New Hampshire.
Bob Snell, E'80, and his wife, Mary O'Keefe Snell, celebrated
the birth of Robert Thomas Snell III. The family lives in Houston. Bob
is an energy director in the Management Consulting Services Division of
PricewaterhouseCoopers. He reports he's been involved with international
energy consulting since earning an MBA in 1990 from the Wharton School
of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to that, he had several management
and technical positions with Exxon.
John P. Travis, AS'80, of New Orleans, won the 1999 Hackney Award
from Birmingham Southern College for his novel Pitching in the Dark.
Mary S. Bannon, N'81, married Lawrence Bannon in 1995. They have
a son, Christopher. The family lives in Arlington, Massachusetts.
Scott B. McKenna, BA'81, of Merrick, New York, is a senior floor
broker on the New York Stock Exchange for Salomon/Smith Barney.
Robert W. Ritchie, L'81, of Westwood, Massachusetts, has been
the counsel to State Representative Douglas Peterson, the House chair of
the Massachusetts Legislature's Committee on Natural Resources and Agriculture,
since January.
Scott Sparrow, ME'81, worked eighteen years in engineering assignments
for Exxon and Mobil in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and California, but says
he "chucked corporate 'life' to open an inn," Oley Forge, with
his partner, Joy, in rural Oley, Pennsylvania.
Lillian A. Wilmore, L'81, of Brookline, is the executive director
of Native Ecology Initiative, a nonprofit resource center for Native American
tribes and nations.
Keith L. Balbert, CJ'82, married Janet Tabachnick in 1986. They
and their son, Michael, live in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Balbert is a credit
analyst for LG Electronics USA and is also a performance nutrition specialist.
Marilyn Bone Kloss, E'82, of Concord, Massachusetts, notes she
earned her engineering degree under the "ultimate co-op"-working
full time at Raytheon Company while taking classes in the undergraduate
evening division program. "I never took part in co-op but it seems
like such a good idea," she says. "I thought it was valuable
to know what in the classroom work would apply to the real world. Much
of it did." Kloss worked for a small software company, Mitchell and
Gauthier Associates, before joining SolidWorks in Concord as a technical
writer. Her first career was in music. She still plays horn, is the music
librarian for the Concord Orchestra, and has written a handbook for community
orchestra librarians.
Stephen J. Maffeo, BA'82, is the CFO at Castle Network. He's
married and has two children and lives in Medway, Massachusetts.
Chip Diniak, E'83, of Weymouth, Massachusetts, is a manufacturing
engineer at LTX Corporation in Westwood. "Still hanging out in Weymouth,
Boston, and Cape Cod. Life is good," he says. "The beers are

Timothy S. St. Vincent, AS'83, of Wakefield, Massachusetts, was
a data management specialist for Management Technology, Inc. (MTI), a federal
government contractor that was bought out by Systems Engineering and Security
(SES). He says the new company "hired us into the same positions that
we held with MTI."
Janis J. Lippman, BA'84, of Jamaica Plain, is the operations
manager for American Artists, a theatrical production company that operates
three theaters in downtown Boston: the Colonial, the Wilbur, and the Charles
Playhouse.
David Marshall, MBA'84, of Tel Aviv, Israel, writes, "Just

Manuel Iglesias, E'85, of San Salvador, El Salvador, is the country
fuels manager of Coastal Corporation. Leon Jacobs, E'85, of Blauvelt, New
York, is a project manager for Frontier-Kemper Constructors, a nationwide
heavy and highway general contractor. He married Lisa Wasserman in August
1995 and their first child, Russell Matthew, was born in December 1998.

Ellen J. Yanosfsky, AS'86, UC'93, of Westborough, Massachusetts,
was a human resources manager at Stowe Woodward Company in Southborough

Sandra Hearn, N'87, of Olney, Maryland, graduated in May from
the Catholic University of America as a pediatric nurse practitioner. She
is a lieutenant commander in the Navy Nurse Corps. She and her husband,
Brent Hearn, a major in the Marines, have four children.
Oliver Saunders, CJ'87, is a major in the U.S. Army and a graduate
of the Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
He's now the brigade operations officer and chief of security, plans, operations,
and training for the army's chemical activity on Johnston Atoll in the
central Pacific Ocean.
Wayne Currie, CJ'88, and Tiffany Rollins, Ed'92, are engaged
to be married early next year. Both work in student affairs at Bradford
College in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Currie is the athletics director and

Jonathan Lipson, AS'88, and Melissa Alfert, AS'90, were
married in June 1998. They live in Rockland County, New York, and are expecting
their first child this month. Alfert is a guidance counselor for the New
York City Board of Education. Lipson is a media buyer for Icon International,

Jeffrey T. Miller, AS'88, of Narragansett, Rhode Island, is engaged
to Melanie Sack, with the wedding scheduled for February. He is the design
director of the Hutchinson Group.
Mark B. Rees, JD'88, has returned to Boston after a year in New
York studying international law for the LL.M. degree at Columbia University.
He's a partner at Smith and Duggan, coordinating the firm's international
dispute resolution practice. He focuses on international litigation and

Jennifer Swinburne, BPH'88, and her husband, Ken, celebrated
the birth of their second son, Benjamin Karl Ohrman, on March 18. His older

Bethany Bachelder Allspaw, AS'89, and her husband, David, celebrated
the birth of Julianne in August 1998. They live in Saco, Maine.
Stephen T. Armato, AS'89, is an attorney with Cetrulo and Capone
in Boston and is a lieutenant commander in the Naval Reserve Judge Advocate
General Corps. He and his wife, Karen, live in Stoneham, Massachusetts.
Khagindr "Ken" Atri, BA'89, says he "did a career
change about three years ago for the better." He's now a PC technician
with Volt Technical Personnel in Methuen, Massachusetts. He and his wife,
Nirupma, have been married for eleven years. They and their two children
live in Lowell.
Cynthia L. (Greely) Beck, N'89, and her husband, Jeff, celebrated
their eleventh wedding anniversary July 31. They live in Danvers, Massachusetts,
with children Graham and Kieran. Beck is a per diem nurse at North Shore
Children's Hospital in Salem.
Caroline Brennan, BB'89, and Brian K. Brennan, CJ'89,
live in Marco Island, Florida, with their son, Aidan Patrick, and daughter,
Brielle Casey, born in May. Caroline is a children's advocate at the Shelter
for Abused Women in Naples.
Robert S. Breuche, E'89, and his wife, Lisa, welcomed the birth
of Sean Michael on April 28. His older brother is Kyle Robert. Breuche
is moving from Columbus, Ohio, to Oak Hill, Virginia, to join Cable and
Wireless as senior director of data sales.
John O. Bristow III, CS'89, and Laura Bernstein, BA'90, live
in Baltimore. He is an aerospace engineer at the NASA Goddard Space
Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
Melanie Symecko Buckley, AS'89, of Salem, Massachusetts, sends

department. I am married (eight years now) and we just had our second son
last May. I'm enjoying my family time and looking forward to a possible
career change to the education field."
Kevin P. Burns, BA'89, married Jacqueline Moran in Chesterton,
Indiana, in May. They honeymooned in Maui and now live in Chicago.
Barry P. Callis, BB'89, of Somerville, Massachusetts, plans to
complete work toward a master's degree in social work at Boston College
in May 2000. He's a director of social work for the Massachusetts Department
of Public Health.

he and his wife, Darlene Goudreau Camella, are expecting their first child
in January.
Derek T. Carroll, AS'89, and his wife, Colette, have two children,

Francis J. Cummings Jr., UC'89, of Franklin, Massachusetts, was
elected to the Franklin Town Council in 1997 and named chair of the council
in 1998.
Stephanie A. C. Durgin, CJ'89, of Melbourne, Florida, reports
the birth of Carly Marie Durgin on July 1. Durgin is a psychotherapist
at Melbourne Psychiatry.
Aileen Smith Eleey, AS'89, and her husband, Peter Eleey, have
three children, Peter Cameron, Alison Elizabeth, and Jacquelyn Isabelle.
They live in Quincy, Massachusetts.
R. Scott Gassett, BB'89, MBA'97, and his wife, Colleen, have
moved to Albany, New York. Their daughter, Meghan, was born in May 1998.
Gassett is a senior vice president of sales and marketing with Corporate
Health Dimensions.
Erin M. Hart, AS'89, of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, says she and
her husband, Alan Hart, are expecting their second child in February. "I
will finish my master's degree in education from UMass Lowell in December,
just in time," she notes.
Alison Zelley Kenneway, N'89, and her husband, Seth Kenneway,
were married in December 1997. They live in Barre, Massachusetts, and are
expecting their first child this month.
Julia M. Lopez, BB'89, of Tucson, Arizona, notes she has an article
published in the fall issue of the New Advocate, an educational journal.
Lopez is an elementary school teacher in Tucson.
James McDaniel, AS'89, of Springfield, Virginia, spent time in
Haiti this year with Food for the Poor. His local Catholic parish raised
$110,000 to fund a medical care project in Port-au-Prince. He says he plans
to return to Haiti in 2000.
Thomas H. Moon III, BA'89, of San Francisco, and his wife, Laura,
have a son, Robert Hugo, born in December 1997, with another child due
this month.
Douglas B. Peterson, BA'89, of Williamstown, Massachusetts, says,
"Hi to all my friends from the clan of '89! If you're ever in the
Berkshires, look me up."
Erik P. Rasmussen, CS'89, and his wife, Sarah E. Rasmussen, celebrated
the birth of their first child, Kyle Ronan, on July 25. The family lives
in Killington, Vermont, and "awaits the start of the ski season,"
he writes.
Adam J. Schutz, AS'89, married Brenda E. DeFranzo on March 4
in New Orleans. They live in Salem, Massachusetts. Schutz is a project
coordinator at Genetics Institute in Andover.
Eugene S. Sullivan, BA'89, and his wife, Stacy, were expecting
their first child in September. They live in Pennington, New Jersey. He
is a senior CPA with KPMG.
Prisco Tammaro, SET'89, E'97, and his wife, Linda, celebrated
the birth of Christian Tammaro on July 6. They live in Wilmington, Massachusetts.
Tammaro is a quality engineer at Raytheon in Bedford.
Zachary H. Untracht, BA'89, of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts,
is a national accounts key manager for ADP. He and his wife, Lisa, are
expecting their second child this month.
