1940s

William J. Cohen,
LA'45, writes from Haverford, Pennsylvania, "My wife and I are in a continuing-care community, The Quadrangle, owned and operated by Marriott." They both compete in Senior Games and qualified for the National Senior Games in Orlando, Florida, in October. Both competed in bicycling and swimming, and he competed in the triathlon (400-yard swim, 20-kilometer cycle, and a 5-kilometer run). "Locally, I had a first in horseshoes and a second in the 3-mile run. In February, we were in New Zealand and Australia on a homestay program."

Herbert C. Nickless, E'48, of Nashua, New Hampshire, retired from Raytheon in 1993. "My chemical engineering degree introduced me to the world of plastics, then to that of semiconductor devices, and lastly to that of diverse electronic components. My private life led to a 46-year marriage, two children, and five grandchildren. My experience on Northeastern's track and cross-country teams inspired me to resume a 32-year running career which continues to the present. Ran many road races in the 1970s and 1980s. My hobby led me to a 25-year membership in the violin section of the Concord (Massachusetts) Orchestra and many great vocal and orchestral experiences. Music and children are our joys. My wife, Jane, is a cellist."
