IMAGES BY THE ART FACULTY

Associate Professor Neal Rantoul, in his eighteenth year at N.U., heads the Department of Art and Architecture's photography concentration. This series of photographs, from a collection titled "Oakesdale Cemetery, Washington, 1996," arose from a drive he took through the vast wheat-growing expanse of eastern Washington. He unexpectedly came upon a cemetery that seemed "an oasis in the midst of a desert of wheat fields," he says. Rantoul, who holds bachelor's and master's degrees in fine arts from Rhode Island School of Design, works in black and white photography.
