Associate Professor Mira Cantor is a painter-and, in her words, "the only traditionalist artist" in the Department of Art and Architecture. This painting, "Dialogue," a forty-two-inch square acrylic-and-fabric work created in 1998, is one of eleven recently exhibited at a Boston gallery. "Dialogue" is part of a series of paintings dealing with diametrically opposed palettes "which are somehow brought together," she says. Cantor, in her sixteenth year at Northeastern, teaches basic drawing and painting courses; a foundational, overview class in visual studies; and "InterArts," a cross-disciplinary course for seniors majoring in art.
