ARTIFACTS

IMAGES BY THE ART FACULTY

The newest member of the art faculty, Assistant Professor Ann McDonald, arrived at N.U. last September to teach in the new multimedia studies program. This montage is created from two of her recent works: a projected message, "as soon as I say it is real it vanishes," that concerns the evanescence of light; and a "lenticular" animation from an exhibit on women's health. But the original designs are moving images; this montage only approximates the experience of viewing them-thereby illustrating McDonald's interest in the ephemeral nature of images. McDonald holds a master's in fine arts from Yale University and is working on a second master's from Yale in environmental design.
