Co-op is our flagship program. We do it better than anyone.
Our strength positions us to provide national
leadership in preparing students for the world of practice.
Northeastern students have always earned much-needed money on co-op, and they have learned a great deal from their co-op jobs. But we can do much more to help students use on-the-job experiences to test academic ideas and also use the classroom to examine what they have learned on the job. When students prepare for co-op, when they are working off campus, and when they return to class, opportunities abound for educational synergy between classroom studies and real-world experience.

Over the past decade, Northeastern has developed innovative models for achieving integration between co-op and the classroom—including campus-based activities and workplace innovations. The challenge now is to turn the knowledge gained from these experiments into comprehensive educational programs in each college that can shape the learning experience of every Northeastern student.
