Paul M. Levenson, E'40, of Milton, Massachusetts, reports that the
class of 1940 reunion committee is planning a sixtieth reunion celebration
in June 2000 at the John Carver Inn in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Philip N. Savage, LA'40, L'46, of Newton Centre, Massachusetts,
has been reelected to a second term as treasurer of West Suburban Elder
Services, which serves six communities west of Boston. He also serves as
board director and chairman of the organization's finance committee.
Salvatore V. DiCara, BA'41, of Dorchester, Massachusetts, became
the grandfather of triplet girls on August 7, 1997. "They're all fine,"
he says.
Ray Dion, E'41, of Summerville, South Carolina, writes, "Northeastern
was a wonderful stepping-stone for me and has continued [to be a part of
my life] for over fifty-seven years. God bless N.U."
Annette G. Gardner, BB'41, of Marion, Massachusetts, sadly reports
that her husband, Bob, died November 1, 1997, at the age of ninety-one.
"I am grateful for knowing a very special person for fifty-one years,"
she says.
Virginia Kane O'Connell, BB'41, of Charlotte, North Carolina,
says she's enjoying traveling with her new husband. "Life is not dull
at seventy-seven and eighty," she reports.
William W. Robinson, BA'42, was honored by the mayor and city
council of Honolulu when they declared his eightieth birthday to be William
W. Robinson Day. Friends and family celebrated the occasion at the Turtle
Bay Hilton on the north shore of Oahu.
Merrill M. Stone, E'42, of Rolling Hills East, California, is
compiling an e-mail directory for the class of '42. Members may submit

Kay S. Blackman, E'43, of Peoria, Arizona, says she enjoyed the
kickoff of Northeastern's centennial celebration last fall. "Reunion,
Pops night, football game, and frat reunion-all one weekend in town,"
she writes.
Robert W. Moss, E'43, of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, reports
that his wife died in March. He sold Wild Goose Farm and retired in June.
John B. Paradis, E'43, of St. Mary's City, Maryland, says he's
enjoying retirement after thirty-eight years with the Navy-five as a pilot,
thirteen as a test engineer, and twenty as a technical director at the
Naval Air Test Center in Patuxent River, Maryland. He enjoys sailing, traveling,
and community projects.
Mary Alice Scott, BB'44, of Fearrington Village, North Carolina,
says she and her husband, Andrew, are retired. They have four children
and three grandchildren.
Patricia A. Rowe, BB'45, retired last spring as chair of the
Department of Dance and Dance Education at New York University's School
of Education after thirty-four years. In May, a symposium and studio performance
by colleagues and former students were held in Rowe's honor at the Judson
Memorial Church in New York City. A private dinner followed at the Dynasty
Restaurant in the Lexington Hotel.
Roy L. Wooldridge, E'45, of Ogunquit, Maine, sends along news
of his two daughters, both N.U. graduates. Ann (Wooldridge) Gillespie,
BB'77, has founded Community Rehabilitation Care, a head-injury clinic,
with offices in Newton and Medford, Massachusetts. Janice L. Wooldridge,
BB'80, works at a pediatric office in York, Maine, and has adopted a Chinese
daughter named Emilee Hailang Wooldridge.
Gordon P. Holder, LA'46, recalls that in 1939 he registered with
the class of 1944 before joining the service in April 1942. After World
War II, he spent one more year at Northeastern and graduated with the class
of 1946. He says he has "nearly no memory of that year [1946], but
plenty from 1939 to 1942."
Sarah E. Wright, BB'47, of Ephraim, Wisconsin, writes, "After
forty-two years, I have sold my gift business in Ephraim. I hope to enjoy
golf and this beautiful Door County."
Irving Adelman, LA'48, of Hicksville, Massachusetts, wrote Contemporary
Novel with Rita Dworkin. The book was published by Scarecrow Press in 1997.
Jacob Wiren, E'48, ME'53, of Westwood, Massachusetts, notes that
his son, Alan J. Wiren, LA'78, married Myuki Tannaka in Osaka, Japan, on
August 15, 1997. Alan is an administrator and teaches English as a second
language at the Nova School in Osaka.
Charles G. Ellis, E'49, was originally a member of the class
of 1942, but served in Burma in World War II and returned to attend college
on the GI Bill. He writes, "As a twelfth-generation Cape Codder, I've
moved to Florida's rice paddies in Punta Gorda Isles as a misplaced Yank
in rebel country."
Robert G. Harrold, LC'49, of Spring Hill, Florida, retired after
forty years as a professional structural engineer. He and his wife spend
the winters in Florida and the summers in Massachusetts. They have two
sons and five grandchildren.
