Virginia K. Williams, BB'41, of Charlotte, North Carolina, has eleven grandchildren, including one granddaughter in college. "My rewards for getting old," she says.
Robert S. Lang, E'45, of South Weymouth, Massachusetts, brought Norman Cheney, E'23, to Professor Al Ferretti's 100th birthday celebration at Northeastern last spring. "At ninety-six, Norman is the oldest living alumnus of the engineering school and was a student of Professor Ferretti. They had a nice chat," says Lang. "I'm in my tenth year of retirement after teaching for thirty-two years in N.U.'s College of Engineering. Completing my twenty-fourth year on the Weymouth Planning Board, play tennis and sail for recreation, and am active in my church. Say hello to my former students and table-tennis players."
Larry Ashton, LA'46, and his wife, Mary (Clarke), celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on the Fourth of July at their home on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Georgia Porter Jennings, BB'47, of West Covina, California, has worked part-time at Queen of the Valley Hospital for the past twenty-seven years. She has five grandchildren, ranging in age from eighteen months to nineteen years. She's been married for forty-five years.
John J. Prendergast, E'48, of Oceanside, California, reports that he and his wife, Julia, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary by cruising to Alaska and then to Denali Park (the size of Massachusetts, he notes). "Saw glaciers, bald eagles, and moose. Climate-wise, liked returning to California," he states.
Thomas F. Schofield, E'48, and his wife, Lois, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary July 20, 1996. The couple live in Dover, New Hampshire.
