Snell Library to settle in and get comfy

A plan is under way to soften Snell Library's high-tech, scholarly atmosphere with a room full of comfortable chairs, attractive wood shelving, and pleasant lighting.

Best of all—the luxurious accommodations are aimed at alumni.

Ed Warro, dean of university libraries, says he wants to transform a drab room on the library's first floor into a quiet, welcoming reading room that would be open to all, but would also be set aside for alumni use on special occasions.

Actually, Warro wants to spruce up the entire first floor of the fifteen-year-old library. Other ideas include improving display areas and creating a spot for PowerPoint presentations and newsfeeds.

Alumni contributions, Warro hopes, will help make the plans reality.
