Steroids spell danger, panelists tell students

Northeastern hosted a candid forum in Blackman Auditorium last month about the dangers of using steroids to enhance athletic performance. The discussion was attended by hundreds of high school athletes.

Hosted by the Center for the Study of Sport in Society, the panel included U.S. representative Stephen Lynch, of Boston, who'd recently attended the congressional hearing on steroids that featured testimony by Major League Baseball players; Steve DeOssie, former Boston College and New England Patriots football player; Lance Williams, a San Francisco Chronicle reporter; and Richard Melloni, an associate psychology professor who studies the impact of steroids on the brain.
