Endowment rises by 21.4 percent Northeastern's endowment jumped a healthy 21.4 percent in fiscal year 2004, from $410.7 million to $498.5 million, lifting the university to the 99th spot in a ranking of 741 U.S. colleges and universities by the Chronicle of Higher Education.
"We're very pleased," says Larry Mucciolo, senior vice president for administration and finance, adding that endowment increases from July to December 2004 have also been "pretty
good."
The previous year, Northeastern placed 104th out
of 717 colleges and universities ranked by the Chronicle.
In related
financial news, the university-which had considered hiring a chief investment officer-has
instead hired Boston-based Cambridge Associates to manage its investments.
