Student research receives funding
In an effort to reinvigorate undergraduate research, the university is committing $22,000 toward the funding of projects of twenty-six student researchers.
Each student will receive between $500 and $1,000.
"Undergraduate research is one of the important types of out-of-classroom learning that our undergrads will benefit from," says Malcolm Hill, vice provost for undergraduate education. "In the same sense that we support really good co-op experiences, we also want to offer more opportunity in research."
Student government president Bill Durkin says the financial commitment will make a big difference in the lives of often cash-strapped students.
