Welcome, Democrats

When the nation’s Democrats convene in Boston this summer, some will call the Northeastern campus their home away from home.

With the Democratic National Convention scheduled for July 26-29 at the FleetCenter—and conventioneers and others expected to fill about 17,000 rooms in and around Boston—the university is offering the use of its comfortable new dorms, meeting spaces, parking facilities, and food services. It’s all being touted on a website, at www.dnc.neu.edu.

The university is also hoping major media outlets will broadcast from campus during the convention.

Two weeks before the convention begins, Northeastern will launch an online Alumni Learning Channel, offering a course on the presidential nomination and convention process. The course will be taught by political science faculty, including Michael Dukakis, Robert Gilbert, and William Mayer.

After this inaugural course, which will be free to all alumni, the learning channel will continue to offer a wide variety of courses to alumni, at a discounted rate.
