James L. Anderson, BA’90, of Takoma Park, Maryland, has been named budget officer for the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Minerals Management Service, in Washington, D.C.

Brian R. Kates, BA’90, of Walpole, Massachusetts, writes, “I was in Southeast Asia on business for the Kraft family (go, Patriots!) and ran into a Northeastern alum, Pongpasu (Not) Dhammaraks, BA’94. He recently built a luxury boutique hotel in Phuket, in southern Thailand. I highly recommend the hotel, which is luxurious (you can see it at http://www.avantika-phuket.com). I met Not because my friend from high school was engaged (now married) to his sister and there was a family weekend at the hotel to discuss wedding plans.” Brian, who is married to Melissa Forde, BA’90, notes that his father, Robert Kates, E’57, MEd’64, was Northeastern’s director of financial aid from 1962 to 1968.

Tony Trigilio, MA’90, PHD’97, of Chicago, was named Featured Illinois Poet in the Spring 2004 issue of the Spoon River Poetry Review. The issue features ten poems by Trigilio and a craft interview with him.

Dave Reilly, MBA’91, sends a belated “best wishes for a joyous new year” to all his co-op MBA classmates. He writes, “My wife, Laura, and I have four beautiful children, Caitlin, Erin, Jillian, and Patrick (who came home from the hospital in time to see the Pats win their first Super Bowl two years ago). We have enjoyed living in Westwood, Massachusetts, for the past six years. After directing a regional consulting practice for a CRM software company for almost ten years, I began working for the state as the CIO for the Human Resource Division in April 2003. I hope you are all doing well and living life to the fullest!”

Renee Sevelitte, UC’91, UC’93, of Amesbury, Massachusetts, is self-publishing an interactive art lesson book for parents to help their children express a range of emotions through art. The book’s title is You Are a Work of Art. Sevelitte is a part-time senior designer in corporate communications at Fresenius Medical Care.

Barbara (Kayton) Talbot, AS’91, of Cutchogue, New York, writes, “I’m currently living with my family—husband Chris and children Emily and Christopher—on the eastern end of Long Island. Working in the biotech field for Centocor, a division of Johnson and Johnson, covering the Northeast as an account manager.”

Kate Adler, CJ’92, MJ’93, of Stratham, New Hampshire, is the executive director of the Child Advocacy Center of Rockingham County. She and her husband, Jason, have two children, Zachary and Madison.

Noelle L. (Hardy) Whitehead, BA’92, of Arlington, Texas, writes, “I have been living in Texas for seven years now. I first met my husband, Michael, in 1994 when I lived in Virginia Beach, and we bumped into each other in Dallas in 1998. We have been together ever since and got married on December 31, 2003, in a private ceremony on the beach at sunset in Laguna, California. I have been working in the Human Resources department at Fort Worth Independent School District for three years. Our goal is to sell our home this year and relocate to Southern California (Irvine) by next year to live out the rest of our lives there. I have definitely gotten used to the warmer weather out here. Nicholas Anastasopoulos, CJ’93, of West Roxbury, Massachusetts, has joined the labor and employment law department of Mirick O’Connell.

Paula M. Grant, L’93, has moved from Los Angeles to to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and is an assistant professor of law at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Ed Jost, AS’93, of Ridgewood, New Jersey, earned a master of arts in education from Centenary College. He teaches history and coaches football at Tappan Zee High School in Blauvelt, New York. Bruce Pomfret, AS’93, and Deanna (Pelletier) Pomfret, AS’94, celebrated the birth of their third child, Mikaela Nicole, on December 16, 2003. Their other children are Meredith Nancy and Garret James. The family lives in North Andover, Massachusetts.

Mark D. Soucy, MS’93, of San Antonio, Texas, received a doctorate from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in May 2003. He is the child and adolescent psychiatric clinical nurse specialist at Methodist Children’s Hospital, and an assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Nursing. His area of research is symptom management for those with prolonged and life-threatening illnesses. Soucy notes he gets back to Boston “as often as possible.”

Dawn Farley Cobak, CJ’94, MBA’01, and her husband, Jay, celebrated the birth of John Seth (“Jake”) on October 3, 2003. Jake’s older sister, Piper, was born on March 28, 2002. Edward P. Flavin, AS’94, of Darien, Illinois, received a master of science in communication in 2001 from Northwestern University, in Evanston, Illinois. In May 2003, he received an executive MBA from the University of Notre Dame, in South Bend, Indiana. He is an assistant producer for Westwood One and works as a broadcast assistant for Notre Dame football games. The 2004 season will be his third as a producer.

Chris Garofalo, AS’94, and his wife, Margot, celebrated the birth of their first child, Olivia Caroline, on June 7, 2003. “We are all doing well, having moved from Worcester to buy a house in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, about a year ago,” Garofalo writes. “My wife joined me at the Mansfield Health Center in October. Rick Gentile, ME’94, of Needham, Massachusetts, heads the Blackfin applications group at Analog Devices. He was a member of the technical staff at MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory.

Cale List, AS’94, MA’96, of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire, has opened an equine dressage and boarding facility named V.I.P. Dressage @ In-Hock Farms. List explains, “I named it that because I’m in hock up to my eyeballs, and I will be for a long time to come. We’re hoping to put up an indoor riding arena and an equine therapy pool, and have the only horse ‘sling’ on the East Coast. Ahhh, to dream. For the immediate future, we have one boarder and two more coming soon. All this, while working full time. It’s nice to drive home and see my horse and his buddy in the front yard. Clinton Morgani, CJ’94, and Holly (Martin) Morgani, BA’94, of McKinney, Texas, celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary in December 2003. They have four children. K. Matthew Dames, L’95, of Oneonta, New York, is the winner of the Twenty-First-Century New Librarian Award, from Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies. He is the director of Cadence Group’s legal information strategies and Washington, D.C., operations. Formerly, Dames was the resident librarian at Georgetown University’s Edward Bennett Williams Law Library.

Karen (Tomberlin) Doyle, MBA’95, and her husband, Doug, celebrated the birth of Sean Robert on December 12, 2003. Timothy is their older son. The family lives in Winthrop, Maine. Doyle is the director of accounting for the Maine Department of Human Services.

Robert E. Hunt, L’95, of Hingham, Massachusetts, is a shareholder of Wolf, Greenfield & Sacks, in Boston. He was an associate with Wolf Greenfield, an intellectual-property law firm. Hunt prepares and prosecutes patents for medical and electromechanical devices, robotic systems, communication systems, recreational equipment, semiconductor devices, and other manufacturing processes.

Kelly A. Jones, BA’95, is an associate vice president with Atlantic Trust Private Wealth Management, in New York City.

Rich Lavasseur, UC’95, of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, is a software quality engineer with Percussion Software in Stoneham.

Daniel J. Norris, L’95, is a partner in McLane Graf Raulerson and Middleton, a law firm in Manchester, New Hampshire. He and his wife, Lori, have three children, girl-and-boy twins and another daughter. Norris is active in his community of Salem, New Hampshire, as cochair of a $3.5 million reconstruction of the Boys and Girls Club, a member of the community’s zoning board, and a volunteer at the Salemhaven Nursing Home. He’s also worked in several political campaigns.

Edward W. des Enfants, BA’96, of Westport, Connecticut, is the vice president and general manager of Fiberstars EFO. Farouq Jiwani, BA’96, of Ashland, Massachusetts, writes, “Just wanted to say hello. My last message told everyone I was engaged and ready to be married. Well, my new note is that I am once again single and have left the banking industry to become a senior consultant at Sungard Trading and Risk Systems. Am loving the new experiences, the lifestyle, the various banking clients, and the travel. I received my MBA, with concentrations in finance and MIS, from Babson College in May 2002. Gretchen Ramos, L’96, of San Francisco, is a partner with Carroll, Burdick & McDonough. She is in the firm’s insurance group and handles third-party environmental and mass tort insurance-coverage actions, including asbestos-bankruptcy cases.

Julie (McGuire) Brown, N’97, and her husband, Jeff, welcomed the birth of Conor John on January 17. They live in Olathe, Kansas.

Tim Looney, ME’97, of Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, is the president and chief technologist of Atrox Technologies, a joint venture with the University of Massachusetts Commercial Venture Development department. He has also authored two books on computer-aided design and is an adjunct professor at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.

Carrie Banks Spillane, AS’97, writes, “Since our return to San Diego, my husband is now a Border Patrol agent, and I have returned to the University of California, San Diego, as administrative coordinator in community pediatrics. I have started a certificate in project management at San Diego State University. We are happy to be back.”

Beth A. Clemons, N’98, writes, “My husband, Daniel, and I will live at Fort Riley, Kansas, for three more years. He recently returned from Iraq, and we are very happy to be back together as a family. After he completes his current military service in 2006, we will be moving back to the East Coast. He will pursue a career in firefighting, and I will return to my career as a hospice nurse. Ross Rousseau, E’98, and Julie Desa, AS’02, were engaged in June 2003. Rousseau works for the Geotechnical Group and is in a master’s program in geotechnical engineering at Northeastern. Desa is working toward a master’s degree in television production at Emerson College, in Boston.

Marie E. Garber, BPH’99, GB’00, of Laurel, Maryland, married Hans Raven on April 3. The ceremony took place in Laurel, which is Garber’s hometown. The couple met while Garber was completing a practicum in Oaxaca, Mexico, during her graduate work. She is a physical therapist in the Montgomery County public schools; Raven is a mechanical engineer from Virginia Tech. They plan to live in the Maryland area for at least a year and may eventually relocate to Raven’s native Costa Rica.
