for the marine electronics division of Fort Worth, Texasbased Uniden

John V. Bianco, L’91, of North Reading, Massachusetts,
is a partner in the intellectual property group of the Boston law
firm Ropes & Gray. He focuses on patents, trademarks, copyrights,
and intellectual property licenses and litigation.
Lisa Cloutier, N’91, of Auburn, Maine, writes,
“After completing my internal medicine residency in 1999, I returned
to my hometown and joined a private practice. As the new chief of
the medicine department, I’ve been busy learning the ‘behind the
scenes’ of medicine. This past June, Steve and I got married and
then enjoyed a wonderful trip to Alaska. Admittedly, the RV got
old, but we still have salmon if anyone wants to stop in.”
Thomas Hedderick, MPA’91, of Belmont, Massachusetts,
is the financial manager for the Sloane Epidemiology Center at Boston
University’s School of Medicine. He was appointed to the position
in October 2003.
Mark G. McGonagle, AS’91, of Wayland, Massachusetts,
reports the birth of daughter Catherine Emily in May 2003. Her older
brothers are Mark Jr. and Eric. McGonagle earned an MBA from Boston
College in 2002.
Adam Shaffer, BA’91, of Los Angeles, is the owner

Manya Rossignoli Chait, MBA’92, writes, “I recently
moved to a house in Lexington, Massachusetts, with my husband, Jon
(we got married in 2000), and my daughter, Talia, who was born June

Patrick Gaston, MBA’92, of Alexandria, Virginia,
is the new president of Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm
of Verizon Communications. Gaston has been with the company nineteen
years, most recently as executive director for strategic alliances
in Washington, D.C. He is also a member of the board of directors
of the NAACP Board of Trustees and Generations United, the National
Latino Children’s Institute, America’s Charities, the Foundation
of the University of West Indies, and the World Institute on Disability.
Douglas Gray, AS’92, was promoted to major in the
Army and is a network officer for the Coalition Forces Land Component
Command in Kuwait. He writes, “I ask you all to please continue
to support and pray for our colleagues in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Despite the hardships, they’re doing great work in those locations.”

is a structural engineer and project manager for the engineering

Diane (Rita) O’Connell, PAH’92, and Kevin W. O’Connell,
BA’92, of Franklin, Massachusetts, welcomed the birth of their third
child, Quinlan David, on September 5, 2003. His siblings are Logan
William and Megan Elizabeth. Nozomu Ogawa, AS’92, is a bond dealer
with Toronto Dominion Bank Sydney. “I‘ve been living in Sydney,
Australia, for over five years and haven’t been back to Boston since

reports that she and her husband, Paul, celebrated the birth of

Scott Weissman, BA’92, of Houston, Texas, is a
senior commodities trader for Entergy-Koch Trading, an energy trading
firm. He and his wife, Suly, have two daughters, Gabby Nicole and
Erika Lauren.
Ava Rothenberg Lawrence, AS’93, of Allston, Massachusetts,
is an assistant professor of music at Northeastern. “After working
in the entertainment industry for nearly ten years, I have returned
to NU to teach music, with a concentration in music industry. I

the birth of their second child, Maya Faye, on October 14, 2003.

Massachusetts, has been promoted to detective sergeant and supervisor
of the Detective Bureau for the Bridgewater Police Department. Delmonte

Sheila Borghi Nash, CJ’94, of McLean, Virginia,
reports the birth of her son, Spencer Logan, on September 20, 2003.

Karyn Geary, GB’95, of Lynn, Massachusetts, is
one of the first nurse practitioners in the country to pass the
Advanced Practice Palliative Care Nurse examination to become board
certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Geary, who
works at the Hospice of the North Shore in Danvers, is one of only
fifty-two nurse practitioners in the United States to receive the
certification.
Sumeet P. Mehra, BA’95, of Laredo, Texas, writes,

has lived in South Boston for two years and works at Massachusetts
General Hospital.
Rachel (McCaffrey) Gerlitz-Appel, AS’98, of Marietta,
