1950s Elliott
Adelman, BA’51, of Montebello, California, writes, “Fourteen years
into retirement, I am into two new activities. As an Elderhostel
ambassador, I give talks and spread the word about this great worldwide
educational and recreational program for seniors. And, since November,
I have been teaching AARP’s Mature Driver Course (formerly called
55 Alive).” He notes that Elderhostel information is available from
him by e-mail at joanelliott2@earthlink.net
or at the website www.elderhostel.org.
Edmund B. Bowen, LC’57, BA’59, of Mashpee, Massachusetts,
writes, “I retired from Raytheon in 1992 after thirty-four years.
In 1994, I completed a RE-SEED leadership training program at NU,
and then assisted in the training and placing of twelve retirees
in Cape Cod middle schools to teach physical science. Since 1999,
I have also been a volunteer member of a TRIAD organization. The
group’s members work with the police in Mashpee helping seniors
with crime and safety-related problems. There is life after retirement.”
He can be reached by e-mail at edpatbowen@juno.com.
Janice Snow Richards sends news of herself and
husband Sam, both E’59, from Grosse Ile, Michigan. “Sam and I have
both retired, Sam from Monsanto and me from Loctite. We are enjoying
ourselves with our family (three children, five grandchildren),
our hobbies (including a small antiques business), fly-fishing in
northern Michigan, and traveling. We also still play tennis.” They
can be e-mailed at jansnowrichards@aol.com.
