Peter Soltz, E63, of Norfolk, Massachusetts, was honored in May as Volunteer of the Year by the Home for Little Wanderers at its annual recognition reception held at Bostons Park Plaza Hotel. The owner of Penny Pincher Kitchen Cabinets in Walpole, Soltz has supported that towns Longview Farm program, which offers a group home for emotionally disturbed boys, and the Clifford School, a Chapter 766approved special-education school. I thank the home for the recognition and urge others to get involved in volunteering, because the real reward is the progress you see some of the kids make, writes Soltz.
George S. Katsarakes, E65, of St. Petersburg, Florida, writes, A quick update on our new adventures begins with our twins, H. Alexandra and G. Perry, born February 25, 2001. Candy is a new mom and loving it; I am still with Network Technologies as chief operating officer, traveling every week to Long Island, and looking forward to the economic turnaround if and when it comes. Despite his schedule, he reports he averages sixteen to twenty-four diaper changes per weekend, depending on the twins diet.
John DeWitt, LA66, of Glenside, Pennsylvania, is the author of Cool Cars, High Art: The Rise of Kustom Kulture, which was published last year by the University of Mississippi Press. DeWitt is an English professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
Richard Rudman, LA66, of Hollywood, California, received a plaque of appreciation from the Federal Emergency Management Agencys Emergency Alert System (EAS) Primary Entry Point Program at a meeting of the Partnership for Public Warnings board of directors, for the years hes devoted to the art and science of alert and warning. He has contributed to the Emergency Broadcast System, the EAS, the Primary Early Point Advisory Committee, state and local EAS plans, and the Missing and Abused Children Program (also known as Amber Alerts).
