Elizabeth Kahn Alexander, CJ’90, and Mark Alexander, AS’90, celebrated the birth of their third child and first daughter, Samantha Amy, on December 8. Her brothers are Benjamin and Zachary. The family lives in Cheshire, Connecticut.

George Fletcher, BA’90, of Bethpage, New York, reports he’s put his concentration in transportation and logistics management to good use as publications officer for the Long Island Rail Road’s public affairs department. He’s worked in magazine and website publishing in Connecticut, New Jersey, Tennessee, and New York City, and says he enjoys being back on Long Island, where he grew up. Jeffrey Karp, MBA’90, of Beverly, Massachusetts, has started Karp Consulting, which provides manufacturing systems implementation, training, and support for companies using Macola, Navision, and Elliott software. “After spending the first fifteen years of my career in accounting, I went into the Northeastern MBA program to concentrate in operations management and information systems, which helped my transition into what I really love doing,” he writes. He and his wife, Carolyn, have six children.

Richard J. Lofgren, E’90, married Deborah Julylia in August 1999. They have a daughter, Sloane Judith, born on December 28, 2000. The family lives in Boynton Beach, Florida. After graduation, Lofgren worked for Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation in Boston as a resident engineer/assistant construction manager. He then worked for a telecommunications company but was laid off following the September 11 tragedy. Seth B. Newman, AS’90, of Boston, and his wife, Nicole LaPierre Newman, celebrated the birth of first son Oliver Penn. Newman has been a trooper with the Massachusetts State Police since 1996.

Sherry M. Ambrose, UC’91, of Lynn, Massachusetts, is president of the NU Alumnae Club. “The club strives to keep female alums connected to the university through a variety of programs,” she writes. “Our membership crosses academic disciplines for a unique membership mix. Jason Levy, MBA’91, and his wife, Cyndi, celebrated the birth of a son, William Maxwell, on October 29. Mom, dad, and Max are living in Dallas, Texas, and doing well.

Maria (Parrott) Puente-Duany, ME’91, writes, “I now live in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and am director of development at St. Mark’s Episcopal School. When I started at the school a little more than a year ago, they didn’t have any databases, and no one knew how to use one. Thanks to all that database programming I learned at Northeastern, I programmed databases that the entire school, not just my department, is now using. Data management is an important part of my job, and my work at Northeastern sure paid off. Best wishes to Paula Leventman in the Women in Engineering program. Engineering isn’t just for engineers any more.”

Michael Colena, CS’92, and Teresa (Buenpacifico) Colena, BA’94, celebrated the birth of their second son, Gabriel, on August 25. Nathaniel is Gabriel’s older brother. The family lives in Lowell, Massachusetts.

John J. Collins Jr., MBA’92, has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the Association for Investment Management and Research. He notes that the worldwide pass rate for the three exams this year was 54 percent. Collins is a vice president at Mellon Financial in Boston.

Greg McQuade, AS’92, of Richmond, Virginia, in March received an Edward R. Murrow Award presented by the Radio and Television News Directors Association for excellence in journalism. The award honored his work on a two-part report covering the growing problem of human smuggling around the world. McQuade has worked as a News6 reporter with WTVR-TV, the CBS affiliate in Richmond, for the past year and a half. He has also worked as a reporter for NECN, in Boston, and WVII, in Bangor, Maine. Steve Pock, SET’93, of Halfmoon, New York, writes, “I knew it was time to get back in touch with some of my classmates when I learned recently that one of my roommates from school had an eighteen-month-old child and I didn’t even know he and his wife were expecting. My update since graduation is that I married Paula about a year after graduation, served my four-year ROTC commitment in the Army, and got my MBA from Oklahoma City University. We have two boys, Colin and Keegan, and I have been with General Electric Power Systems for almost five years now.”

Robin L. Berk, AS’94, and Chad Cornelison, CS’95, are engaged to be married on May 11 in Newport, Rhode Island. They live in Jersey City, New Jersey, and work in Manhattan.

Greg Gordon, BB’94, and his wife, Carissa, welcomed the birth of their first child, a daughter, Elleot Ainsley. They live in Eugene, Oregon, where Greg works for Bayer Pharmaceutical.

Kristen (McCarthy) Walsh, AS’94, and her husband, Christopher, celebrated the birth of their first child, Ryan, in June 2001. They live in Southbridge, Massachusetts. Karen Tomberlin Doyle, MBA’95, of Winthrop, Maine, is the assistant director of fiscal operations at the Maine Department of Public Safety in Winthrop. She and her husband, Doug, have a son, Timothy, who was born on July 26.

Jennifer Arsenault, AS’96, of Sunderland, Massachusetts, received the Rising Star Award for new professionals in university advancement from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. Mario Arvelo, MA’96, currently of Santiago de Chile, has been promoted to the rank of ambassador and appointed an alternate representative of the Dominican Republic to the bodies of the United Nations and other international organizations headquartered in Rome. Arvelo, who was profiled in this magazine’s “Husky Tracks” in January 2001, says of his foreign-service career, which began in 1997, “During this time, I have had the wonderful opportunity to work at the Organization of American States in mesmerizing Tokyo, and later here in Chile. I will be moving to Italy as soon as possible. When my whereabouts are all set, I will let you all know how I can be reached in my new destination.”

Zareen Kapadia, AS’96, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, writes: “I am now enjoying life as a research technician in pulmonary and critical care at Duke University Medical Center. I will be riding my bike this July from Amsterdam to Paris to raise money for AIDS vaccine research. This trip will mark one year since I was run over by a careless driver while I was biking. I have worked very hard to recover from nine fractures, and would like to face this challenge to give others the chance to live long, healthy lives. Kristin (Dolan) Regan, CJ’96, and her husband, Peter, welcomed their first child, Ryan William, on September 14. They live in Wilmington, Massachusetts. “I am enjoying being a stay-at-home mom while my husband works as a project manager for Payton Construction Company,” she writes.

Noel Texeira, CJ’96, of Foxborough, Massachusetts, writes, “A big thanks to Kelly Moura (class of 1997) for getting me tickets to the Super Bowl! We ran into Colleen Streeter (class of 2000) in New Orleans. Like the rest of the world, I witnessed the Pats upset the Rams, 20–17, and am still partying to this day. It was my second Super Bowl in five years.”

William Frazier, BPH’97, and Denise Brousseau, CJ’98, were married in November 1999. They celebrated the birth of their first child, Jackson Liam, on December 19. The family lives in Pembroke, Massachusetts.

Andrew Sternburg, MBA’97, of Mansfield, Massachusetts, and his wife, Lee, celebrated the birth of their second daughter, Samantha Rose, on December 5. Her sister is Hannah Grace. “It’s great having two little girls who will soon be best friends,” writes Sternburg. In January, he celebrated seven years working at Allied Domecq QSR, the franchisor for Dunkin’ Donuts, Baskin-Robbins, and Togo’s. He is the strategic asset manager in the Northeast region.

BB’98, of Columbia, South Carolina, and her husband, David Logerstedt, were selected to serve as volunteer physical therapists for the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. They worked with athletes in the Polyclinic in the Olympic Village.

Robert C. Sacco, AS’98, and Molly E. Halloran, CJ’99, were married on January 5. They live in Boston.

BA’98, reports he’s been “living in Fort Worth, Texas, since graduation and having a great time! Never thought I would find myself in Texas, working for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, distributing empty boxcars to shippers in the midwestern United States. Those companies then load those boxcars with many of the things you and I use every day, from sugar to beer to beans. The next time you see a train, look for our equipment as you watch it go by.”

Don Toothaker, UC’98, writes to share that he and his wife, Kate, MEd’94, are living in Bradford, Massachusetts. The couple celebrated the birth of daughter Demsey Elizabeth on January 1.

Maxime Dufour, BA’99, of Boston, recently became KPMG Consulting’s administrator of financial systems, working as part of the chief financial officer’s team. Prior to this appointment, Dufour had served as a world-class finance consultant, based in New York City. He returned to Boston last year, after spending six months in Paris, France, where he worked as an author for a subsidiary of the Financial Times. Just after graduation, Dufour, a Paris native, worked with Fidelity Investments’ corporate finance team, in charge of the emerging markets group.

Jorge Flores, MBA’99, married Gina DiFabio on August 31. They live in Springboro, Ohio, where Jorge is a marketing manager for Procter & Gamble.

Alan T. Harrison, E’99, of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, is an ensign in the Navy and has graduated from the Submarine Officer Basic Course.
