Linda (Giardino) Beaulieu, LA70, of Wrentham, Massachusetts, spent ten years in the public relations office at Johnson and Wales University. Shes now pursuing a career as a consultant to chefs, restaurant owners, and cookbook authors. Shes a freelance food writer for the Associated Press and other publications, and also is the food critic for Ocean State Online, at <www.oso.com>.
Mary M. Baker, N72, of Sacramento, California, is a member of the board of trustees at Sutter Hospitals Foundation. She is the only registered nurse to serve on the board.
Olivia H. Miller, LA74, of Milton, Massachusetts, is the author of the Yoga Deck, which was published in March 2001 by Chronicle Books. Now in its seventh printing, the set of cards features fifty yoga poses, meditations, and affirmations. Yoga Deck is sold in bookstores, gift shops, and online via Amazon.com. Miller now is working on the Stretch Deck, which will recommend fifty stretching exercises and is scheduled for publication in the fall.
Beverly Cleathero, UC75, MBA82, of Malden, Massachusetts, retired at the end of 2001 after more than thirty-nine years with John Hancock Financial Services. She writes, My career at John Hancock Mutual Life (JH) began as a secretary in the bond and stock department. Then, in 1968, JH started its own mutual fund organization. I was one of its first employees. As the years progressed, I worked my way up through the investment ranks as a statistician, research analyst, and portfolio manager while earning my degrees during the evening. Most recently, I have been a fixed-income analyst following the utility and health-care industries. In my retirement, I am looking forward to spending more time with my seven grandnieces/nephews and finishing building my vacation home in Owls Head, Maine. As an avid Scottish and English country dancer, I attend various dance functions around the Boston area. Who knows, you may even see me crossing the quad with a backpack on as I become reacquainted with the university.

DeFelice, LA75, of Southbury, Connecticut, reports her company, DeFelice & Associates, Inc., celebrated twenty-one years of providing health-care, financial, and technical industries with strategic marketing services and communications. Carolyn Fischel, L76, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, was the recipient of the 2001 Outstanding Alumni Award in October during Homecoming weekend.
Joseph Heck, E76, of Wrentham, Massachusetts, took time out from his computer consulting work to help with communications for the Red Cross from September 16 to 22 at the former site of the World Trade Center in New York City. He also attended his twenty-fifth reunion later in the fall.
Kevin M. Hutchinson, BA77, is vice president of sales for AtlantiCare Risk Management Corp. of Vienna, Virginia. Hutchinson was national director of marketing at National Underwriting Services, Inc., and was a regional marketing director for Vasa Brougher, Inc. I am a fraternal member of Alpha Kappa Sigma, and Im a single dad living near Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. My three children are Kyndal, Kristen, and Kevin, he writes. Richard Norton, ME77, is the project manager for HNTB, overseeing the Alameda Corridor in southern Los Angeles. Norton writes about his professional and personal life since receiving his NU degree: In 1977, I took a job at Gale Associates in Weymouth, stayed there until 1984, when I took a twelve-month sabbatical to earn a masters degree in management from MIT. I then worked for FX Enterprises for a year and was recruited to come to southern California to work for a large engineering firm. Since 1986, I have worked for several firms and have been involved in various civil engineering projects. Im just finishing the management of a $750 million, ten-mile-long trench to carry freight trains from the port area to downtown L.A. (Big Dig, West Coaststyle). As an associate vice president at HNTB, I am responsible for their operations in the southern California area in addition to managing major projects. On the personal side, I married a flight attendant and psychologist in 1980: Karen Ulwick, from Rockland. We adopted newborn girls in 1982 (Samantha) and 1985 (Alexandra). Karen chose to stay at home with our girls, and has practiced psychology on a limited basis. We also have hosted for a year at a time six high school exchange students from Spain, Finland, Mexico, Sweden, England, and Italy, and a dozen others during various summers. Karen was actively recruiting host families when we arrived in California, so our daughters have met teenagers from around the world. We moved in 1986 to a four-bedroom home in Irvine, located ten miles from Disneyland. I wish everyone continued good fortune.
Mary Beth Dobrzynski, CJ78, writes, Still in Washington, D.C., after twenty-four years working for the federal government. I am currently an information technology project manager, soon transitioning into becoming a software quality-assurance manager. I earned a masters in information systems in 1993 and will shortly begin a doctoral program in clinical psychology. Where does the CJ degree fit in? I volunteer in the D.C. area with post-prison reentry programs and help to financially support D.C. Police charitable events. Marc G. Girard, LA78, of Holden, Maine, has retired from the Army as a lieutenant colonel, after twenty-three years in the military. His last assignment was as professor of military science at the University of Maine. He says hes enjoying life with his wife, Martha, and children Megan, Michelle, Mary, Monica, and Marc.
David Lewis, BA78, of Hingham, Massachusetts, became engaged to Mary A. Kenney, of North Weymouth, during a trip to Paris. David is the sales manager for Pratt-Read Corp., in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Mary is a nurse manager with Granite Medical, in Quincy.
Mary Ann Indorf, GB79, of Meriden, Connecticut, teaches at Housatonic Community College and is enrolled in the doctoral program in leadership studies at the University of Bridgeport.
Ray Santilli, CJ79, of Burlington, Massachusetts, is the new assistant town manager and human resources director for North Andover. He spent twenty-two years with the Cambridge Police Department, the last fifteen as director of planning, budget, and personnel.
