Mary Manning McLean, LA51, MEd66, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, writes in remembrance of a classmate: Absent from our fiftieth reunion was one of Northeasterns friends and family members, Nancy Quigley Silva, LA51, who died suddenly last summer. Nancy was one of a small group of women who entered the university in 1946. She was a loyal friend and supporter of the Omega Sigma girls and a most enthusiastic fan of all the NU athletic teams. She met her husband, Tom Silva, on co-op at BU Medical School. They raised six children while living in Brookline, Massachusetts, and Lovell, Maine. Nancy was a full-time mother but later returned to school. She then assisted her husband in his medical practice and worked at New England Baptist Hospital. Many of her family members attended Northeastern, including her brothers Charles, E50, and William, BA56, and sister, Mary Alice, Ed57. Three of her children, Kathleen, Ed78, Thomas, BA77, and Timothy, BA81, also graduated from the university, in addition to several of her nieces and nephews.

As treasurer, Tedoldi will chair the boards finance committee and exercise overall responsibility for assuring the accuracy of financial reporting and documentation. CRWA, founded in 1965, is a nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to protecting the health, beauty, and accessibility of the Charles River and its tributaries. Tedoldi first became involved with CRWA five years ago as a water-quality sampling volunteer. Most recently, he served as a member of the access committee, which looks at zoning issues, the protection of open space, and the creation of access to the river.
Manuel Avellan, E53, of Milton, Massachusetts, sends this update of his life since Northeastern. After graduation, I married my sweetheart (Jean) of three years. She was from Dorchester and has a masters degree from Emmanuel College. We went to France, where I studied metallurgical engineering and received a master of science. Back in Venezuela, with my first son, Joaquin, E80, I worked for three years in my familys foundry, finishing as president. Years later, I started a furniture factory that became the largest in the country. I later started a business buying and selling used machinery and equipment, and built it into the largest one in the country. I retired in 1994 and complied with my promise to Jean to return to her country to become a citizen. Two years ago, I became an American citizen. He notes that his other activities led to his being honored by Pope Paul VI in 1969 with the Equitem Ordinis Sancti Silvestri Papae and by the president of Venezuela with the Decoration of Francisco de Miranda for social services in the church and industries. The most important of my jobs now is taking care of my beautiful wife of forty-eight years. I would like to hear from those at Northeastern who remember me, he adds. His e-mail address is <mavellan@aol.com>.
