1940s George A. MacCallum, E40, now lives in San Diego, California, and plays golf twice a week at National City Golf Course. Julius Kendall, E41, of Weston, Massachusetts, is the president of the class of 1941. Last year, we celebrated our sixtieth reunion at the Warren Center, in Ashland. We were one of the first classes to utilize this magnificent center. They have the greatest staff and accommodations. This would not have been possible without the assistance of Kathleen Fitzgerald in Alumni Relations. Her department certainly made the difference. We are now planning our sixty-first reunion in Ashland, and expect that Heather Wood and her staff will outdo last years performance. We are a very active class with many notable classmates. All help out with our plans, he concludes, noting that he chairs the reunion committee. Stuart L. Garr, BA42, of Newton, Massachusetts, says hes retired and spends his free time playing golf, reading, and playing with his computer. Joseph Antognoni, E43, MBA54, was named the Most Honored Citizen for 2001 in Carlisle, Massachusetts, during ceremonies held on the town green on the Fourth of July. He served Carlisle on several committees and boards, including the school and finance committees. His area of special interest is the education, recreation, and development of the towns children. Antognonis son, Paul, is a member of the Northeastern class of 1980. Francis W. Gardner, BA43, of Higganum, Connecticut, reports that his son, Frank, had twins in 1999. I now have eight grandchildren, he writes. My four kids live in four states, none of which is Connecticut. Now thats togetherness! Susan A. Darrow, BB45, of Mendon, Vermont, says its good to hear from classmates. Im keeping busy biking and skiing, and entertaining grandchildren. Harold A. Huckins, E45, writes, Were now in our eighth year on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, enjoying the beach, boating, tennis, golf, travel, five children, eight grandchildren. Recently was issued a second U.S. patent for a direct hydrogen peroxide process. Just signed on for two ski trips to the Rockies for twenty days of skiing in 2002. Any other NUer interested in senior skiing? Robert T. Ling, E47, ME67, of Boylston, Massachusetts, and his wife, Phyllis, celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary on November 23. He retired from the Tappan Co. in Mansfield, Ohio, in 1982. Phyllis and I moved back to Massachusetts to be closer to family, he writes. We have nine living grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. John P. Johnson, BA48, of Belmont, Massachusetts, retired in December 1981 as a supervisor in the Massachusetts state auditor department after thirty-one years of service. He says hes enjoying good health at age eighty-seven with travel and good classical music and sports. Albert Kalman, E48, of Weston, Massachusetts, reports he taught for seven years in the Seed Program at Newton Middle School before retiring in 2000 because of poor health. Jacob Wiren, E48, ME53, of Westwood, Massachusetts, writes, My graduation was delayed due to service performed for Uncle Sam during World War II. I helped found the NU Electronics Research Project with the Air Force. |
