Doug Green, AS’80, of Oceanside, California, writes, “For ten years, I have been a middle-school teacher in Carlsbad, California. I currently teach television broadcasting, and the live program that my 120 broadcasting students produce each week has the distinction of being America’s first and only middle-school news show to broadcast live worldwide on the Internet. Our show’s website is <www.aotv.org>, and the program streams live each Monday morning.”

Marion Eisenberg Pardes, PAH’80, of Toms River, New Jersey, is the director of operations in New Jersey for First Health Services and is currently managing a drug-utilization review for the state’s prescription beneficiaries.

John E. Toomey, CJ’80, of Swampscott, Massachusetts, has retired as chief of the Swampscott Police Department, where he worked for thirty years. He notes he’ll be practicing law on the North Shore.

Colleen C. Graves, AS’81, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, says, “It’s great to be back in New England, and home in Maine couldn’t be better. Greg ‘telecommutes’ to his office in Atlanta and visits it about once a month. Let’s hear it for the electronic/digital age! I am working to establish myself as a painter and have been building a portfolio for a couple of years. It is very inspiring to be living in beautiful Cape Elizabeth.”

Raymond A. Emery, UC’82, of Durham, Maine, is a financial adviser for Morgan Stanley in Portland. “I lead a team that works with wealthy individuals, families, and trusts to maximize and protect their wealth,” he writes. “My wife, Marie, and I have two golden retrievers that participate in the local hospital’s pet therapy program.” Raymond and Marie celebrated their fifteenth wedding anniversary in August. Mary Frohn, BA’82, of Norwood, Massachusetts, is the director of the Dental Assistant Program at Massasoit Community College in Canton. She received a National Excellence in Teaching award at the NISOD Conference at the University of Texas in Austin.

Amine Mekkaoui, E’82, is the director of secure e-business in New England for Deloitte & Touche in Boston. He and his wife and two daughters live in Dover, Massachusetts.

Stephen Patterson, MJ’82, of Saint John, New Brunswick, was promoted to staff sergeant on the Saint John Police Force in April and became one of four new watch commanders. “I look forward to all of my old classmates contacting me via e-mail,” he says. The address is <spatt@nb.sympatico.ca>.

Robert Rowell, AS’82, and his wife, Sue, have been
married for nineteen years. They live in Townshend, Vermont, with their children, Ali and Flint. Rob graduated from Suffolk University Law School in 1987 and is vice president and general counsel of National Registered Agents, Inc., which provides professional services to law firms and corporations. Parwez Wahid, CS’82, of Framingham, Massachusetts, a technical officer at JP Morgan Chase, is pursuing an MBA in the online program at the University of Phoenix. In 1999 and 2000, he served as secretary of the Pak Millennium Conferences, symposiums held in Boston to discuss possible development paths for Pakistan. Janet Diotalevi, MBA’83, of Beaver, West Virginia, and her husband, Robert, celebrated the birth of a son, Michael Stephen Diotalevi, on May 2.

Paula (Aucoin) Gicka, N’83, of St. Petersburg, Florida, notes that she’s divorced and has two children, Ronnie and Shawn. She is an RN case manager with Evercare. “I would love to hear from classmates,”

Helena Jo Goldstein, L’83, of Lakewood, Colorado, is the administrative coordinator for Jefferson County Mediation Services, which mediates disputes from small claims, district, and county courts, and municipal agencies. “We expect to mediate eight hundred cases this year,” she writes. “I love the variety of cases I get to mediate, everything from neighbors fighting over barking dogs to consumer fraud and domestic relations. It’s incredibly satisfying to resolve conflicts for people.”

Amy Jaspon, BA’83, and her husband, David, celebrated their fourteenth anniversary in May. Judith Kennison, AS’83, of Austin, Texas, is general counsel for the Texas Racing Commission.

Debbie Leighton, BA’83, of Atlanta, writes, “I had a successful career in interior design with Leighton Designs and now have decided to shift gears and work in real estate. I have passed my licensing exam and am working for Harry Norman Realtors in Buckhead, Georgia (near Atlanta), selling residential real estate.”

Lisa Strempek Pierce, AS’83, is an attorney in litigation management with Electric Insurance in Beverly, Massachusetts. She has two daughters, K.C. and Jordan.

L. Glenn Poppleton, BA’83, of New York City, is the president of Dodger Touring Limited, which books and markets Broadway touring shows and concerts throughout North America. Among the shows the company represents are the first national tours of Blast!, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and the new Broadway production of Meredith Willson’s Music Man.

Linda Marcy Rasmussen, MPA’83, of Amherst, Massachusetts, is the director of major and planned gifts at Hampshire College. “Never a dull moment in this business, and I enjoy the challenge,” she writes. “After living twenty-five years in the Boston area, I am enjoying another perspective from Amherst. Out here, New York City is almost as big an attraction as Boston! Do I subscribe to the Sunday New York Times or the Boston Globe? At the moment, it’s the Globe.”

Jeannette Andonian, AS’84, of Portland, Maine, writes, “I recently returned to New England with my family after spending a number of years living in New Orleans, where I practiced social work while working on my PhD at Tulane University. I taught courses in the graduate school at Tulane for five years, as well. My son is three years old.” She now is an assistant professor in the Department of Social Work at the University of Southern Maine in Portland.

E’84, writes, “After ten years in the Midwest, we have returned to the East Coast (Mahwah, New Jersey). We hope to see some other alumni at NU during 2001.”

Mark Florence, BA’84, is vice president of marketing at Moore Medical Corp., of New Britain, Connecticut. He previously was the director of market development and managing director of channel development at Medibuy.com in San Diego, California.

Mark L. DeFrancesco, BA’85, is a co-owner, along with Ray and Steve DeFrancesco, of H. H. Perkins Co. in North Haven, Connecticut. Founded in 1917, the company provides basketry and seat-weaving supplies, furniture repair and restoration, window treatments, rattan and wicker furniture, and how-to classes.

Lisa Marie Paine, AS’85, writes, “I moved back to Boston in June 2000 and got back into journalism after a brief stint as a ‘flak’ for the attorney general of Connecticut. I’m back with the Associated Press as the night-desk supervisor.” She has started an Internet-based column on backpacking and mountaineering with emphasis on New Hampshire’s White Mountains. “I look forward to hearing from any classmates,” she says.

Brian F. Shea, PAH’85, PharmD’88, of Peabody, Massachusetts, is a manager with the consulting firm Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, LLC. “Just completed the first phase of the country’s largest patient safety project,” he writes. “This project, which currently is addressing medication error prevention, has meant over 200 hospitals and 1,300 individuals—including CEOs, CNOs, physicians, pharmacists, and nurses—have received education, tools, policies, procedures, and white papers to help them begin implementation and monitoring of an effective medication safety program at their facility.”

Victoria (Borowski) Duntzee, N’86, of Marlborough, Massachusetts, is a sales executive for McKesson HBOC Medican Management Group InterQual Products. “Just to let everyone know that my husband has retired from the Army, and we have moved back to Massachusetts. Theresa Pepitone Selby, AS’86, is the director of annual giving at St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont. Previously, she was the director of development at the North Country Animal League in Morrisville, Vermont. Theresa earned a master’s degree in English literature from the University of Rhode Island in 1998. She and her husband, Bob, live in Johnson, Vermont.

Lisa Madeleine Cukier, AS’87, is assistant general counsel to the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH). She will represent DMH in matters involving health-care law, probate and forensics, mental-health law, medical treatment decision-making issues, and a range of legal issues impacted by individuals’ incapacity.

Bill Frankel,
BB’87, of New York City, is director of a residential summer camp and director of student life at Purchase College, State University of New York. He received a master’s in education from Springfield College in 1995. Bill directed a year-round environmental education center and served on the board of directors of Camp ECHO. “All of the above thanks to co-op,” he says. He married Lori Wynters in 1990. “Met her at the environmental center, so some thanks to NU,” he adds.

ME’87, of Cincinnati, Ohio, is vice president of eHealth at Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He’s responsible for development and implementation of the hospital’s web-based technology. Larry Stillman, AGS’87, of Melbourne, Australia, is a senior research fellow at the Centre for Community Networking Research in the School of Information Management Systems at Monash University.

Tom Brady, CJ’88, of Jacksonville, Florida, received a master’s degree in forensic science from George Washington University and is now a forensic consultant with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), which serves the southeastern United States and South America. “If I can be of assistance to anyone in the criminal justice field, feel free to call me via the local NCIS office in Jacksonville,” he writes.

Scott Heslink, E’88, and his wife, Donna, celebrated the birth of their first child, William Banks Heslink, in April. Susan Walsh, BB’88, completed a residency in podiatric medicine and surgery at the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois, and has joined a private practice in Cranston and East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

Monique Papazian Allen, BA’89, of Franklin, Massachusetts, was highlighted in the March issue of This Old House magazine in an article titled “Growth Spurts.” The article concerned Monique’s practice of landscape development. “Hooray for a Northeastern education,” she writes. “The practical learning does pay off.”

Teresa L. Santosa, CS’89, of Colleyville, Texas, was among a hundred new citizens (representing fifty countries) who took the oath of allegiance to the United States this year at the Fort Worth Court House.

Fred Zeytoonjian, BA’89, of Alexandria, Virginia, is the Washington director for Mississippi governor Ronnie Musgrove. “On September 7, my partner, Karen Sosnoski, and I will complete production of our documentary film, Wedding Advice: Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace, an investigation of contemporary ambivalence about marriage,” he writes. “The project was awarded a free editing-services grant by Avid Film Camp.
