Paul Antognoni, BA’80, and his wife, Cheryl, of San Diego, welcomed their third son, Reece, on December 9, 2000. He joins brothers Brock and Cole.

Karen Morton-Grooms, L’80, is vice president and counsel for the litigation and employment division of John Hancock Financial Services. She joined Hancock in 1988 as assistant counsel in the law department and served as associate counsel, senior counsel, and counsel in employment, agency, and labor relations, before being elected second vice president and counsel in 1998.

Charles Sax, BA’80, of Port Washington, New York, is the new chief financial officer, vice president, and treasurer of Fleet Securities and the new vice president and treasurer of Quick & Reilly/Fleet Securities and Fleet Meehan Specialist. He and his wife, Shanti, have three children, Brandon, Leah, and Ashton.

Laurence I. Mariasis, MBA’82, of Sudbury, Massachusetts, is an executive vice president with FleetBoston Financial, where he manages the retail telephone banking business. He and his wife, Dori, have been married since 1983. They have two sons, Jason and Eric. Mariasis notes he’s active in the community, coaches soccer, and “very much enjoys life.”

Ken Muzal, ME’82, of Natick, Massachusetts, and his wife, Mary Bularzik, celebrated the birth of a granddaughter, Catherine Grace, on September 12, 2000. Muzal works for the Liberty Mutual Group.

Jeffrey Karon, UC’83, and his family moved to Sudbury, Massachusetts, last year. He is the controller for Zen Associates, an international landscape design company in Sudbury.

Susan Fedorowicz Pyne, E’83, and Gerry Pyne, BA’83, report they’ve “happily returned to Massachusetts after eleven years in Illinois.” They live in Southborough with their children, Katie and Eddie. Gerry is a laser systems specialist with Fuji Medical Systems USA. Bob Hardy, BA’84, married Deborah Copeland on January 2, 2000. They live in Hudson, New Hampshire.

Jerry Higgins, AS’84, reports he’s “left the world of newspapers after nearly twenty years in the business to try life on the other side of the telephone.” He’s now the director of public and media relations for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes and the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. He and his wife, Andrea, will celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary in April. They have two children, Alexandra and Andrew.

David G. Marchione, UC’84, MPH’96, of Woburn, Massachusetts, has been promoted to chief technologist at Shields Health Care.

Alan Weinstein,
E’84, reports that he and his wife, Deborah, and daughters, Emma and Sophie, have returned to New England. He is the business manager of the signs product division of Cooley, near Providence, Rhode Island. “We’ve settled in quite comfortably near the water in Warwick,” he writes.

Cynthia Hanna Goldman, BA’85, of Bellingham, Massachusetts, has started Goldman Tax Services, a tax consulting firm that specializes in individual estate and trust taxation.

Nancy (Lowe) O’Connor, N’85, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, writes, “Where are all my nursing classmates in Class Notes? I’m married now, for six years, to my husband, David, and have the most awesome son, Jake. Working part-time as an NICU nurse at New England Medical Center and just came online. John Kahler, E’86, lives in Chicago with his wife, Carolyn, and son, Joe. He is president of Avocus Group, a consulting firm specializing in collaborative supply-chain management.

David Rubin, BA’86, of Valhalla, New York, is the solutions manager at Calltrol Corporation, a company in Valhalla that sells computer and Internet telephone software servers. He and his wife, Ann, have two sons, Spencer and Jared.

Andrew Waterson, MBA’86, was promoted to senior vice president and manager at GE Capital in Pleasanton, California. He leads the northern and central California marketing efforts for the middle market/large corporation group of GE Capital Commercial Finance.

Eileen (Quinn) DeWitt, N’87, and Chris DeWitt, BA’87, celebrated the birth of their second child, Samantha Claire. She joins brother Jack. Eileen is a neonatal nurse practitioner at Children’s Hospital in Boston. Chris is a senior client services manager for Fidelity Investments. Chris and Eileen met while in ROTC at Northeastern and have been married twelve years. They spent six years in the Army before returning to Massachusetts in 1993. They write, “It doesn’t get any better than this.”

Jackie Griswold, EDD’87, of Palmer, Massachusetts, has left the New Hampshire community technical college system and now teaches in the human services program at Holyoke Community College. She writes, “My sons are now nineteen and sixteen. The older is a sophomore, majoring in sports psychology, at Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire. The younger is a sophomore at Palmer High School. Michael J. Poirier, BA’87, has been elected to the board of directors of the American Subcontractors Association of Massachusetts. He is a partner in the law firm Feeley & Driscoll in Boston.

Stephen J. Zack, MBA’87, of Kihei, Hawaii, is chairman of the board of trustees of the Stephen J. Zack Foundation.

Wayne P. Amico, E’88, of Braintree, Massachusetts, has left VHB in Watertown and is now director of civil engineering at National Network Technologies in Braintree. He has two children, Samantha and Nicholas.

David C. Way, BET’88, of Richmond, Rhode Island, has been promoted to operations manager for Narragansett Electric’s coastal district. He previously served as the company’s manager of overhead and underground lines.

Michael Harding, BA’89, of San Francisco, is product marketing director at Commtouch, a global messaging services company in Mountain View, California.

Javier A. Maymir, L’89, is district counsel for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the supervisor and regulator of national banks, in the Midwestern district office in Kansas City, Missouri. Leslie Schur Pearson, CS’89, of Little Ferry, New Jersey, is engaged to marry Mark Gottlieb on May 20. Pearson is a consultant to Spherion in New York City. Gottlieb is a self-employed marketing and public relations consultant.
