1980s

Paul Garvey, MS'80, of Westwood, Massachusetts, has written a textbook, Probability Methods for Cost Uncertainty Analysis: A Systems Engineering Perspective, published by Marcel Dekker, New York <www.dekker.com>. A part-time faculty member in the Mathematics department at Northeastern, Garvey is the chief scientist in the Economic and Decision Analysis Center at MITRE Corporation in Bedford, Massachusetts.

Donna Carthy, BB'81, owns Cace Custom Brokers, which specializes in full container imports from Asia to all United States ports. She lives in New Jersey with her two children and would like to hear from classmates at <ccbrokers@aol.com>.

Bruce A. Kilgallon, CJ'81, of Pembroke, Massachusetts, and his fourteen-year-old daughter, Katelin, volunteered in July with the Appalachia Service Project in Cleveland, Virginia, to make construction improvements to the homes of several families. He says it was a "very rewarding experience" and that they are looking forward to doing it again next summer.

Michael J. Nunziato, BA'81, of Buffalo, New York, is saddened to report that his wife, Ava, who was enrolled in Northeastern's pre-med psychology program from 1976 to 1981, died suddenly on August 1. Prior to her death, the couple had spent six days visiting Boston while their eldest son, Michael, was enrolled in lacrosse camp at Holy Cross.

Margaret Pullen, AS'82, is chief executive officer and genetic physicist for Evergreen Applied Research in Aspen, Colorado, which specializes in gene-control technology for the purpose of limb regeneration. She says the company is expected to make an initial public stock offering within a few months.

Kenneth S. Kelley, AS'83, of New Haven, Connecticut, is the labor relations manager of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities.

Twila (Pittsley) McInnis, N'83, and James McInnis, SET'87, of Bedford, New Hampshire, welcomed their fifth child, Brennan Chase, on November 30, 1999. His siblings are Aislinn, James Jr., Jennica, and Cody. Twila is a "home manager" after earning a master's degree from Boston University and teaching nursing at the baccalaureate level. Jim, who also received a master's from BU, is president of INSYST Technologies, which specializes in integrated systems and automated design. Jill Nelson, AS'83, of Hollywood, Florida, graduated from the Barbara Brennan School of Healing in June 1999.

Stephen C. Parthum, BA'83, of Marblehead, Massachusetts, is a vice president with Berkshire Realty Holdings in Boston. He and his wife, Kim, have two children.

Robert Porras, E'83, of Westford, Massachusetts, has joined Sycamore Networks in Chelmsford as director of engineering program management for its Core Switching Business Unit. Bruce Birtwell, BA'85, was recently promoted to vice president of sales at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. He and his wife, Susan Hochman Birtwell, BA'86, and two children are relocating from Connecticut to the New York City area.

Marianne DeCristo, E'85, reports that she and her husband, Jim, have lived in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for three years and have two daughters, Molly and Daniela.

Carol Sanchez, BA'85, has moved to a new house in Framingham, Massachusetts, with her husband, Gene Novak, and children, Liam and Kailee. She works at Resources in Waltham.

Robert C. Burns, E'86, of Meriden, Connecticut, is manager of the civil engineering department at BL Companies in Meriden. He and his wife, Kim, have two children, Erin and Max. Burns says he'd like to hear from classmates from White Hall (5 South) by e-mail at <rburns@blcom.com>.

Angela M. Ordoñez, CJ'86, L'89, was sworn in as an associate justice of the Nantucket Probate and Family Court on June 14. The following day, she was appointed first justice of the court by Chief Justice Sean M. Dunphy.

Paul Mello Jr., CJ'87, and his wife, Melissa, of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, celebrated the birth of their second son, Jack Matthew, on July 11. He joins brother Nicholas Paul. Mello is an account manager and technical recruiter for SoftFirm Engineering, a staffing agency for engineering consultants and professionals. Nora (Lynch) Baldwin, E'88, and Scott Baldwin, E'91, live in San Jose, California, with their four children. Scott is the manager of technical development at Lam Research.

James W. Bucking, CJ'88, of Needham, Massachu-setts, has been named a partner in the law firm of Foley, Hoag & Eliot in Boston. He advises and represents corporations and other employers in union disputes, wage/hour discrimination, and other labor and employment matters. He and his wife, Catherine, have two children.

Jeff Cutler, AS'88, reports he's been enjoying the success of his first book, Mountain Bike America: Boston, which was published in April. He's had signings at bookstores and bicycle shops around Boston and says he's met a number of Northeastern students and alumni. Sandra J. Czibik, PAH'88, of Bow, New Hampshire, is a staff pharmacist at Concord Hospital. She and her husband, Art Cunningham, have four children, John, Nadine, Carolyn, and Nathan.

Andrea O'Leary, MEd'88, of Concord, Massachusetts, has been named director of the career center at Wentworth Institute of Technology. She is responsible for the center's two components, career planning and cooperative education. Prior to joining Wentworth, O'Leary was director of the career development and placement office at Regis College.

Anastasia Panichas, CJ'88, and her husband, George, of Smithfield, Rhode Island, welcomed a daughter, Melina Anastasia, on January 26. The couple also have a son, George Thomas III.

Michael J. Harding, BA'89, of San Francisco, married Gretchen Biesecker on October 30, 1999. He is the product marketing manager for Critical Path in San Francisco.

Michelle Jacobs, AS'89, of Boston, writes, "Dean and I welcomed our first child, Emily, on April 4. I'm going to take a year off and spend it learning all that she will teach me." Jacobs says she'd like to hear from old friends at <michdean@bellatlantic.net>.

Wendy Lhotka, N'89, married Steven Bauman on May 19 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is director of corporate health services at the Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency in Minneapolis.

Robert E. McCarthy III, AS'89, is a major in the Marine Corps and serves as operations officer for the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
