Support the Program

The mission of the School of Public Policy & Urban Affairs is to have an immediate and lasting impact on the quality of life in Greater Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We seek to engage a wide range of stakeholders – faculty, policy makers, community and business leaders, students, and researchers – to develop effective solutions to our most pressing problems. Your can help us to make this happen by providing support for:

  • research to develop innovative solutions to pressing social issues;
  • student scholarships;
  • training centers, conference rooms, and other facilities;
  • internships and other student experiential education opportunities;
  • research centers, institutes, and departments;
  • fellowships to bring local officials and neighborhood leaders to campus;
  • faculty development funds;
  • instructional technologies, data sets, and other resources;
  • And much, much, more…

Your gifts matter, and will make a real difference.

Make a gift of stock

A gift of stock, or other appreciated property, entitles you to a tax deduction for the market value of the donated stock. If the stock you wish to donate has been held for more than one year, you can avoid capital gains tax on any appreciation of the stock by donating the stock prior to sale. Northeastern University benefits by selling the stock without paying taxes on the gain, and you benefit from making a contribution that would be larger than what you might have been able to donate in cash.

For specific instructions, go to this page. In addition, please be sure to email us to let us know the company and number of shares being transferred so that we can properly credit and acknowledge you for the gift.
