Service-Learning 101

Service-Learning (S-L) is a form of experiential learning involving partnerships between faculty-led  academic courses and community-based organizations. Through these partnerships students engage in hands-on service roles and projects through which they learn about and apply course concepts while intentionally addressing the needs/interests identified by our community partners.

This workshop is intended for faculty who are considering incorporating service-learning into a course and would like to learn more, but anyone who is interested in learning more about service-learning is welcome.

In this workshop, we will explore how service-learning intersects with different disciplines, the research and scholarship of engagement through service-learning, models suitable for on-campus and online courses, and making decisions based on the link between service and the learning objectives of the course.
