Developing Rubrics to Foster Student Development

Familiar with rubrics? Take them to the next level.  When used appropriately, rubrics have many benefits:  they can help students chart their intellectual growth and help faculty make expectations clear. The Structure of the Observed Learning Outcome (SOLO) taxonomy views student competence of content on a hierarchical scale that moves from “pre-structural” to “extended abstract.” This workshop will walk you through the steps of creating, developing, and using a rubric for your class based on SOLO taxonomy that encourages your students to continuously develop their intellectual skills and abilities.
