Thomas Mitchell
Thomas Mitchell says the people he met at Northeastern—especially football coach Joe Zabilski, whom he stayed in touch with until he passed away several years ago-and the practical education he got there made all the difference in his career. "One day I was studying accounting and the next I was automating an accounting system," he explains. "This experience prepares you for the real world. Students graduate from Northeastern ready to work."
As vice president and chief technology officer of ABS Associates, Inc., which he cofounded with his wife Rosemarie, LA '61, Thomas is responsible for introducing new technologies that will enhance the firm's service efficiency and capacity. He has more than 30 years of experience in information technology covering a broad range of disciplines from applications development to sales and marketing management.
The Mitchells graduated in June of 1961 and married the following August. They founded ABS, a leading provider of outsourced helpdesk, desktop, and network support and services, in 1982. Based out of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, ABS is privately held and employs about 100 professionals serving 100 clients.
