$1.5 M Endowed Professorship Boosts NU's Jewish Studies Program

Northeastern University is establishing an endowed trustee professorship to further enhance its Jewish Studies Program's academic stature and help raise it to a national level. The Ruderman Professorship is made possible by a $1.5 million donation from alumnus Mort Ruderman and his wife Marcia.

That's exactly what happened when alumni entrepreneurs Alan McKim, MBA'88 and Richard D'Amore, CBA'76, came together to honor Northeastern University and their mentor, Professor Daniel J. McCarthy, co-director of the high-tech MBA program.

Pharmacy Professor Breaks New Ground in Autism

According to new research from pharmaceutical sciences professor Richard Deth, a link exists between exposure to certain toxins and an increased possibility of developing autism and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). His research — the first to offer this explanation for possible causes of the two increasingly common childhood neurological disorders — appears in the April 2004 issue of the journal Molecular Psychiatry.
