| The impressive George D. Behrakis Health Sciences
Center opened on West Campus in November 2002 to raves from faculty
and students as well as from national architectural critics and
urban planners.
At the dedication, George Behrakis, PAH '57, Hon. '98, spoke of
his commitment to educations. "The more we can educate, the better
we are as a country," he said. Gazing upon the state-of-the-art
teaching building, he added, "We never had anything like this
before." Behrakis and his wife, Margo, made a generous commitment-
the largest in Northeastern's history- to name the glass-fronted
facility that combines the Bouvé College of Health Sciences Schools
of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health Professions under one roof. |

| The leadership campaign has received the University's
largest bequest ever — $2.4 million from the estate of the
late Marguerite S. Parker. The gift will create an endowed Presidential
Scholarship fund that will support eight presidential scholars.
In 1997, President Richard M. Freeland created the scholarship
program to recognize Northeastern's most outstanding students.
Scholars excel in all three components of practice-oriented education
— the liberal arts and sciences, professional fields, and
co-op. To date, Northeastern has awarded scholarships to 84 of
its best and brightest students with full tuition coverage for
their final three years. |
