Members of the men's vasity crew team hone their skills in the Cabot Center's indoor rowing pool, used for winter training when access to the Charles River is limited. Vincent F. Barletts, AS'93, generously supports such facilities through his gift to the team's Competitive Enhancement Fund.

A Legacy of Support to Academics and Athletics

The Barletta family has alumni connections to Northeastern that span four generations. Throughout these years, the Barletta's have been active and steadfast supporters of their alma mater.

"I'm honored to support the scholarship fund created by my father when I was still a child. I want to continue his commitment to providing educational opportunities for deserving students of all means."

Several family gifts in the name are visible across the university including the Barletta Natatorium on the Boston campus and Barletta Hall on the Dedham campus. Today, Vincent F. Barletta, AS'93 is continuing his family's legacy of support.

Barletta has generously increased his Leadership Campaign commitment from $125,000 to $250,000 to provide funding for athletic and academic initiatives that are of personal professional significance to his family.

Barletta's commitment will support the Men's Crew Competitive Enhancement Fund and the Vincent D. Barletta Engineering Scholarship Fund, established by his late father in 1964.

As the captain of the men's crew team, Barletta helped lead his squad to a national championship in 1991. Since then, men's crew has continued to win races and accolades, most recently as the second fastest collegiate crew at the thirty-eighth annual Head of the Charles Regatta.

Barletta hopes his commitment will assist the team in its pursuit of excellence.

"Being part of an athletic team at Northeastern gave me skills — like discipline and focus — that have brought success to my life and career today," Barletta says. "In appreciation, I want to stay involved with the crew team to help them achieve success."

Barletta is also helping Northeastern students through the scholarship established by his father, which supports civil and environmental engineering students who demonstrate both financial need and academic promise.

"I'm honored to support the scholarship fund created by my father when I was still a child. I want to continue his commitment to providing educational opportunities for deserving students of all means," says Barletta.

"The Barletta's are an amazing and inspiring Northeastern family," says Neal F. Finnegan, BA'61, H'98, chairman of the university's Board of Trustees. "Their loyalty and support have had a tremendous impact on the university over many years."

Vincent F. Barletta is president of Barletta Engineering Corporation, based in Roslindale, Massachusetts. His firm, founded by his great-grandfather and managed by several generations of Barletta's, has worked on some of the state's largest construction projects, including Boston's Central Artery.
