Inter-library Loan
Materials not available at the Northeastern University Law Library may be borrowed from other libraries through inter-library loan. Inter-library loan request forms are available at the circulation desk. Books from selected academic libraries may also be borrowed through the NExpress Consortium at http://nexpress.iii.com/search/.
Access to Other Libraries
Members of the School of Law community have access to all the resources at Snell Library which serves the general Northeastern University community. Students can also borrow material from the University’s John D. O’Bryant African-American Institute Library.
The library’s membership in the New England Law Library Consortium and the Boston Library Consortium offers our students access to area law libraries and research facilities. Consult a reference librarian for detailed information about access to other libraries.
Usage of Lexis Westlaw Passwords on Coop
LEXIS:
While on Coop, Northeastern Law School students may use their Law School
Lexis passwords for:
- public interest externships/internships including federal, state,
local government and courts
- pro bono and public service program activity required for
graduation
- research for a law professor, or for a law school course, clinic,
or moot court
- If they are working for a firm, organization or any other entity which
charges a client for the students' time or research performed, then
use of the academic ID would be in violation of the academic use
rules.
WESTLAW:
While on Coop, Northeastern Law School students may use their Law School
Westlaw passwords for:
- public interest externships/internships not including federal,
state, or local government and courts
- pro bono and public service program activity required for
graduation
- research for a law professor, or for a law school course, clinic,
or moot court
- Students may not use their law school Westlaw passwords for
research for a court, government office, law firm, or any job
where a client would be charged for the students' work.
HeinOnline Use on Coop
Coop students are authorized to access HeinOnline for the following:
- Public interest externships/internships including federal, state, local government and courts
- Pro bono and public service program activity required for graduation
- Research for a law professor, or for a law school course, clinic or moot court
- If they are working for a firm, organization or any other entity which charges a client for the students' time or research performed, then use of HeinOnline would be in violation of the academic use rules.

- P AILALink Online
- Online is a fully searchable, web-based immigration law library filled with practical guidance and authoritative resources key to the practice of immigration law. It provides access to statutes, regulations, cases, AILA publications, and nearly 200 immigration forms. Access is restricted by license to Northeastern University School of Law students, faculty, and staff. Authorized users may request a password from the Law Library.
- BNA's E-Alert's
- The Law Library is pleased to announce that all Northeastern University School of Law faculty, students, and staff may individually register to receive BNA’s U.S. Law Week email service. BNA’s e-alert provides email highlights and reports to NUSL for BNA’s U.S. Law Week and BNA’s Supreme Court Today. The U.S. Law Week e-alert is sent every Tuesday. Supreme Court Today e-alerts track the latest developments in the current Supreme Court term. Please click the BNA link for self-registration email sign up.
BNA Databases- Many Bureau of National Affairs ("BNA") databases are now available to all Northeastern University Law School students, faculty, and staff. BNA publications provide in-depth news and analysis of current events along with applicable statutes, administrative regulations and decisions, and cases. - HeinOnline provides full access to complete runs of more than 500 law journals. It also includes the Federal Register, treaties and related publications, U.S. Supreme Court materials, and U.S Attorney General Opinions. Other libraries include the Foreign and International Law Database, European Center for Minority Issues, English Reports, Legal Classics Library, and the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition Compendium. Please note the restrictions on using HeinOnline while on Coop (see above). HeinOnline databases are available to all Northeastern University students, faculty, and staff.

National Center on Poverty Law- Website of the National Center on Poverty Law, a non-profit organization. The Center carries out legal and policy research and provides legal services to low-income clients. The “Clearinghouse Review” area has scholarly articles in the area of Poverty Law and is the electronic version of their print journal. Materials such as cases and articles are also available. By license agreement, this resource is available to Northeastern University students, faculty, and staff.
