Tuition at Northeastern University School of Law is now over $42,000 for the 2011-2012 academic year. Ninety-four percent of our students require financial assistance, and receive on average $8,750 in scholarship support. They need to rely heavily on loans to cover the remainder of these costs. The average law school debt for students graduating from NUSL now exceeds $100,000. Many co-op employers (including judicial clerkships, government placements, advocacy groups, and criminal and civil legal services) are unable to pay their student interns. Moreover, post-graduate jobs, excluding those in large- and medium-sized law firms, pay, on average, less than $50,000 per year. These pressures pose a direct threat to the fulfillment of the school’s social justice mission. We must provide increasing amounts of support to students and we need your help.
