Quick Thoughts from Our Joint-Degree Students

Each NUSL class has a dozen or so students with the drive, dedication and time management skills necessary to balance a second degree on top of their law school education. They are entrepreneurs getting a joint degree in business administration from Northeastern University, health policy gurus writing master's theses in public health at Tufts University, law-savvy green people studying environmental law at the Vermont Law School, and students fascinated by Sustainable International Development at Brandeis University, or Accounting and Law, Policy and Society here at NU.

One of the most popular joint-degree programs JD/MPH. Tasmin Din ’09 describes the program as “demanding and richly rewarding,” and an opportunity that has allowed her to “develop an additional set of tangible skills beyond legal training.” She is focusing her master’s thesis on refugee and immigrant health issues in Massachusetts.  Amy Schneider ’10 says, “I love this program: I'm surrounded by doctors, nurses and nonprofit workers as well as other law students. Going from Civ Pro and Contracts to Epidemiology and Environmental Health has been a little difficult, but this joint degree program has been a refreshing change for me, giving me a much needed perspective on life, law and public health.”

Jeffrey Rosenspan ’10 has only positive things to say about his experiences so far with the joint degree in business administration at Northeastern University. “The program is a great way to learn corporate law on both a small and large scale. Classes like Accounting and Statistics are helping me to analyze law with a practical focus. I appreciate Contracts and Civil Procedure so much more now that I see how managers make decisions.  I feel much more connected to the global business environment, which is so important for today’s corporate lawyers. Plus, the added networking opportunities have made me very comfortable interacting with the professional community.”  Third-year student Noah Winkeller concurs, “The joint degree program is a great way to learn about business and the law and it only takes one extra year. I highly recommend it.”
