ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship

The ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship provides students with financial assistance to attend law school. During his term as ABA President, William G. Paul initiated the scholarship to encourage racially and ethnically diverse students to apply to and attend law school.

Adler Pollock & Sheehan Diversity Scholarship

The Adler Pollock & Sheehan Diversity Scholarship is a $10,000 scholarship to be awarded to a minority student entering his or her first year of law school who has demonstrated adademic excellence and a commitment to community.

Alexander G Gray, Jr. Scholarship

The Alexander G. Gray, Jr. Scholarship Award will be awarded each academic year to a law student who demonstrates a commitment to and involvement in the LGBTQ community, leadership, maturity, and responsibility.  Other indicia of excellence (including positive personal, professional or academic traits) will also be considered.

Auto Accident Law Firm Survivor Scholarship

To be eligible for the Auto Accident Law Firm Survivor Scholarhip, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Have sustained injuries from a car or truck accident or been affected by someone else’s accident.
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college or university within the United States. Graduate and Law School students are encouraged to apply.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.

Bond & Notes Finanical Hardship Scholarship 2014

The $2,000 Bond & Notes Financial Hardship Scholarship is open to any U.S. citizen attending the first year of law school this fall, with an undergraduate cumulative GPA at or above 3.0. Applicants are asked to submit a short essay describing how they have overcome financial difficulties in their lives. The application submission deadline is July 16th, and a copy of an acceptance letter from an accredited U.S. Law School must accompany the application. The scholarship will be awarded in mid-August, with payment made directly to the student’s school, to be applied to tuition.

Davis Levin Livingston Public Interest Law Scholarship

Davis Levin Livingston Public Interest Law Sholarship intends to support law students intending to pursue public interest law and add to the ranks of motivated young attorneys willing to consider a career as a public interest lawyer. 

Domestic Violence Law Firm Scholarship

The Domestic Violence Law Firm Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship for the fall 2014 semester to a student who meets the eligibility requirements. The recipient must be a current student, or has been accepted to attend school this fall and write a short essay about how domestic violence has affected their life. Donald W. Banner Diversity Scholarship

Banner & Witcoff offers the Donald W. Banner Diversity Scholarship for law students. This scholarship is part of Banner & Witcoff’s commitment to fostering the development of intellectual property lawyers from diverse backgrounds. Law students who meet the selection criteria and have entered into a JD program at an ABA-accredited law school in the United States are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Applicants may not be a current or past employee of Banner & Witcoff, or directly related to a current employee of Banner & Witcoff.

Dwyer Williams Potter Attorneys, LLP Scholarship

The $1,000 Dwyer Williams Potter Attorneys, LLP Scholarship is intended to help defray first-year expenses for students graduating from an Oregon University that have been accepted into an accredited law school anywhere in the United States.

Frank H. Lang Merit Scholarship

Fink Family Scholarship for a Pharmacist in Law School

The purpose of the Fink Family Scholarship is to support a pharmacist who: (1) is attending law school; (2) demonstrates academic, professional, or service-related achievement; and (3) is most likely to use a law degree to further such achievement and to contribute to the benefit of society. The $5,000 scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable award and will be administered by ASPL. The scholarship award will be payable to the institution where the student is enrolled. Hudson County Bar Foundation Scholarship

Justinian Law Society Scholarship

Each year between September and November, the Justinian Law Society accepts applications for its annual scholarship awards. Three two-thousand five-hundred dollar ($2,500.00) awards will be presented to deserving scholarship recipients. Scholarships are available to all second and third-year full time/day and third and fourth-year part-time/evening students with a keen interest in Italian culture and history from any of the nine Massachusetts law schools. A fourth, specially dedicated scholarship, the Thomas A. Pannesi Memorial Scholarship, is available to all second and third-year full time/day and third or fourth-year part-time/evening students attending Suffolk Law School.

Kaire & Heffernan, LLC

Kaire & Heffernan, LLC is offering a $1,000 scholarship which was created to support a student who either personally suffered an injury in a bicycle accident, or witnessed the post-accident experience of a family member or friend, and wishes to pursue personal injury law.

Luvera Law Firm Scholarship

The Luvera Law Firm Scholarship is a $2,000 Pursuit of Justice scholarship for students committed to preserving a vigorous civil justice system and to achieving justice for those who have been injured. The Luvera Law Firm is a offering a scholarship to aid a law student who wants to be a champion for the underdog.

Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Leadership Scholarship

Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly will be presenting a Leadership Scholarship to a deserving student at the Top Women of Law event this year. The student selected will be enrolled in law school or will be planning on attending in the near future. Michigan AutoLaw Diversity Scholarship

The recipient of the Michigan AutoLaw Diversity Scholarship is a member of an ethnic or racial minority or demonstrates a defined commitment to issues of diversity within their academic career. Recipient is a Michigan resident accepted to or currently attending an accredited law school within the United States, or a non-Michigan resident attending an accredited Michigan law school. Academic achievement is reflected by an undergraduate cumulative minimum 3.0 GPA.

Mike Eidson Scholarship

The Mike Eidson Scholarship Fund was established by the AAJ Women Trial Lawyers Caucus in 2008, in honor of AAJ Past President Mike Eidson, whose vision and generosity inspired it. The Scholarship, traditionally given in the amount of $5,000, is awarded annually to a rising 3L female student who has demonstrated a commitment to a career as a plaintiffs’ lawyer or criminal defense lawyer, along with dedication to upholding and defending the principles of the Constitution, and to the concept of a fair trial, the adversary system, and a just result for the injured, the accused, and those whose rights are jeopardized.

The application deadline is May 1, 2014 and the Scholarship will be awarded at the AAJ Annual Convention, which will take place this year on July 27, 2014 in Baltimore.

Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation 

In 2014, the Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation will offer five Education Support Awards of up to $5000 each to assist low-income women with children who are pursuing education or training.

The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans

Rhode Island Bar Foundation Thomas F. Black Jr. Memorial Scholarship

The Rhode Island Bar Foundation's Thomas F. Black, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1989 to support and foster high legal practice standards by assisting Rhode Island residents who show promise that they will become outstanding lawyers and who need financial assistance to study law.

Richard Mintz Diversity Scholarship

The Mintz Levin Scholarship Committee is looking for a first-year law student from a diverse background who has demonstrated excellence in his or her studies, is community-minded, and has a commitment to diversity.

Sidney B. Williams, Jr. Intellectual Property Law Scholarship

The first initiative of the Foundation has been the establishment of the Sidney B. Williams, Jr. Intellectual Property Law Scholarships. The goal of these scholarships is to increase the number of under-represented minority groups serving as intellectual property law practitioners in law firms and the intellectual property law departments in corporations. Since April 2002, the AIPLEF has been awarding a number of $10,000 Scholarships for Minority Scholars as well as arranging internships and mentorships to assist under-represented minority law school students intending practice intellectual property law. The scholarships are named in honor of Sidney B. Williams, Jr. who was the first African-American to hold major leadership roles in both the AIPLA and the ABA-IPL Section and who has and continues to give countless hours and boundless energies to influence minority students looking for a future in science and engineering to pursue law school and intellectual property law. He is a role model for all young lawyers.

Thomas M. McGovern Educational Scholarship
