Northeastern University School of Law

Welcome from Dean Emily A. Spieler

At Northeastern University School of Law, innovation is our tradition. From the time of its founding in 1898, the law school has committed itself to addressing the needs of students and of society. As you explore our website, make sure to find out about our Cooperative Legal Education Program. Northeastern offers the premier Co-op Program in the country: our law students receive their JD in the same three-year time period as students from other law schools, but graduate with the equivalent of one full year of legal experience.

With four co-op work experiences, many of our graduates find that they are better prepared for legal work than students who attend more traditional law schools. On average, almost 40 percent of our students accept post-graduate positions with their former co-op employers.

As you peruse our information on career services, you will note that our graduates pursue a wide range of job paths. Given our reputation as a nationally recognized leader in public interest law, it is not surprising that many of our graduates are involved in public service. Our graduates in private practice are also impressive: ranging from in-house counsel for major corporations to partners in law firms of all sizes in the United States and abroad.

This website offers a wide variety of information about our history and mission and the many unique people and programs that are the foundation of our law school community. We appreciate your interest and hope that you will contact us with your questions and comments.
