CVS, one of the nation’s largest drugstore chains, said Wednesday that it will stop selling cigarettes at its 7,600 locations in an expensive but calculated bid to boost its image as a full-fledged health-care provider rather than a simple purveyor of greeting cards and shampoo.
Through its innovative, interactive, and interdisciplinary programs, the Experimental College strives to enrich the intellectual experience of undergraduates at Tufts. These programs serve as an incubator for new ideas about teaching, learning, and curriculum. They also aim to engage students actively in the design and delivery of new academic initiatives, often in collaboration with faculty. Shared governance, collaborative learning, and involvement with the community are hallmarks of the ExCollege.
How we select our instructors and courses
Proposals are reviewed by members of the Tufts faculty from appropriate departments, references are solicited, and the large majority of applicants receive an interview conducted by two students and a faculty member. The Board of the Experimental College evaluates all the information generated and makes the final selection. Over the last few years, we have averaged more than 100 proposals each semester, all of which are competing for roughly twenty available slots.
