Northeastern Printing Plan

print station

The Northeastern Printing Plan annually provides a limited amount of free printing to students, faculty and staff. At the start of the academic year members of the Northeastern community receive a $120 credit on their Husky Cards that can be used at various color and black & white printers across campus. The annual credit does not rollover from year to year, and when your balance hits $0.00 the printing system will default to using Husky Dollars. All jobs sent to the printing queues are available to print for 24 hours. Cost is determined on a per page basis, and varies depending on the type of printer used and the size of the paper.

Access

The $120 annual credit is automatically refreshed and made available to students, faculty and staff at the start of each academic year. Printers are located across Northeastern’s campuses. Print jobs can be sent from any computer that has installed the virtual printing software, including computers in ITS-managed labs, and can be sent via email.

Print jobs from computers can be sent to four different print queues:

  • Black and White 8.5×11 – $0.10 per page
  • Black and White 11×17 – $0.30 per page
  • Color 8.5×11 – $0.30 per page
  • Color 11×17 – $0.75 per page

Print jobs sent via email will go only to the queue:

  • Black and White 8.5×11 – $0.10 per page

Get Started

To print from a personal machine, you must have downloaded and installed the Virtual Print Client from myNEU. If you are on campus, you must be connected to either a wired campus network (ResNet/NUnet) or NUwave. Printing will not work using NUwave-guest.

To print from an ITS-managed lab, you will need to select the appropriate print queue. All ITS lab computers have the Virtual Print Client installed.

To print from email, you must send the job using your HuskyMail (@husky.neu.edu) or Northeastern (@neu.edu) account. No other email accounts will work. The Print to Email feature only prints to the Black and White 8.5×11 queue.

Once a print job has been sent, simply find a swipe-to-print station associated with that print queue, swipe your Husky Card at the card reader, select your file and print. All jobs sent to the printing queues are available to print for 24 hours. Your current balance and the cost of each print job in the queue will be displayed.

See the How To’s below for details on how to download and install the Virtual Print Client, and how to print from your own computer or an ITS-managed labs computer, or via email.
