Spouses find common ground
ISSI’s Common Ground International Spouse Network offers international spouses the opportunity to form a social support network that helps alleviate the isolation they sometimes experience. ISSI staff organize meetings, activities, and speakers as requested by Common Ground members. Activities range from seminars on health issues to cultural outings and informal second language learning. The program also provides resource information on needs specific to spouses and families.
Participants do not need to be fluent in English, and if needed, ISSI will find interpreters. Members may bring along very young children. Many events and activities will be held at ISSI, and spouses, partners and students are invited to attend.
Common Ground offers the opportunity to:
• Meet new friends from home and other countries
• Discuss issues of concern – personal, medical, legal
• Find out about opportunities to work, volunteer, study,
or assume leadership roles
• Get information about school, family activities, and
childcare
• Organize trips and activities in and outside the Boston
area
• Discuss successful ways to live in Boston and the U.S.
