Mandatory health insurance coverage
All international students, regardless of visa class, are required by state and federal laws to have a certain level of health insurance coverage.
International students are required to purchase the Northeastern University Student Health Plan (NUSHP) for which they are billed at the beginning of each semester. In some cases, international students hold health insurance from a U.S.-based carrier that meets requirements. In this case, they may be granted a waiver. It is the student’s responsibility to manage this process.
