There are numerous housing options, both on- and off-campus, available to international students. ISSI Orientation offers housing workshops that cover the cost of housing, renter’s rights, and housing opportunities.
On campus
Northeastern provides a variety of on-campus housing, with options for both
rooms and apartment-style units in residence halls. Residence hall applications
should be submitted as soon as possible, as rooms are allocated on a
first-come, first-served basis. Learn more about living on campus.
Off campus
The market for off-campus housing in close proximity
to the University is very competitive. Allow ample time to find an apartment
that best suits your needs—a process that can take several. You may also want
to consider living farther away from campus, where apartment rental rates are
sometimes lower, and commuting to campus via subway or bus.
Northeastern’s Off Campus Student Services
Additionally, Northeastern University’s Off Campus Student Services, www.offcampus.neu.edu, offers a wealth of information about searching for an apartment in the Boston area and other services of interest to students who will live off campus. The website also features an online apartment search tool, www.northeastern.edu/offcampus/apartment, to help students search for apartments and roommates and to communicate with other students who are also seeking housing and/or roommates through the Message Board feature. Pictures of listed properties and possibilities for buying furniture for your apartment are also featured on this website. So if you will be looking for off campus housing prior to or upon your arrival in Boston, we encourage you to view the Off Campus Student Services website. Off Campus Student Services is located at 226 Curry Student Center and may be contacted at offcampus@neu.edu.
