Full-time Status

U.S. federal regulations/SEVIS require international students to maintain a full-time course of study each academic term. Every student in F-1 or J-1 immigrant visa status must be registered full-time each term, except during designated vacation periods.

At Northeastern, this means that if you are required to be in classes or co-op in the summer, then summer is not a designated vacation period for you. Do not take a leave of absence or a reduced course load without checking with ISSI in advance of the start of each term. In accordance with SEVIS requirements, ISSI must verify full-time enrollment each term in accordance with SEVIS requirements.
