Physical Registration

Physical registration is required for continuing international graduate students in F-1 non-immigrant status.

Pursuant to regulations established by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), all continuing F-1 students must engage in SEVIS registration based on confirmation of their physical presence at the beginning of each and every academic term. The following conditions apply to all international GRADUATE students in F-1 non-immigrant status excluding those on post-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT) and those enrolled at SPCS:

• All continuing international students in the New England area must report for registration. There are no exceptions.
• If a student is not currently residing within the New England area, they must call ISSI and leave a phone number where they can be reached. An ISSI advisor will call them back for a short phone interview and then they will be subsequently registered in SEVIS.
• Students on (or who will engage in) an authorized Medical Leave of Absence must contact the ISSI to document their condition before dropping classes.
• Students going overseas for a period longer than 5 (five) months must consult with an ISSI advisor before they leave.

All continuing international GRADUATE F-1 students must report at the start of each term of study to ISSI at 405 Ell Hall (unless noted otherwise) with a picture ID. Once your name has been matched with SEVIS data, then you will have completed this essential process. The dates for the next Physical Registration period will be announced at least two weeks prior to the semester.

Fall semester 2009 dates TBA (to be announced)
