Leadership Opportunities

ISSI Orientation Leaders
ISSI recruits and trains approximately 40 student leaders each fall and spring semester to assist hundreds of newly arrived international students through the acculturation process.

ISSI Intercultural Student Programmer
Help plan and implement ISSI programs and services and participate in student panels and conference sessions related to international education. These positions are available on a semester basis.

International Carnevale Planning and Programming Committee
Everyone is welcome to help plan Carnevale, ISSI’s annual celebration of cultural diversity. This committee forms in October and meets until the last of 35-plus Carnevale events.

Practicum Students
ISSI accepts practicum students interested in facets of international education ranging from immigration advising to planning cultural enrichment programs. Qualified practicum students receive course credit in a field of study related to higher education administration, counseling, or international student advising. Past ISSI practicum students have been enrolled in degree programs at Northeastern or at other educational institution in Massachusetts.

Global Connections Mentor
This ISSI international mentoring initiative links alumni mentors with graduating students and peer mentors with students from a particular country or field of study or research.

Global Expressions
Host a new international student during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Common Ground
Help a new scholar’s spouse feel more comfortable and less isolated in what is often a completely different world.
