ISSI and immigration documentation
Once international applicants are accepted by Undergraduate Admissions (Apply), ISSI initiates the process of issuing a Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 form) and provides pre-arrival welcome information to incoming students.
The I-20 form is necessary to obtain a nonimmigrant student visa (at the U.S. embassy or consulate in the student’s home country) to attend a school in the United States or to maintain lawful student status when transferring or changing schools within the U.S.
The I-20 form indicates that an international applicant has been accepted as a full-time, degree-seeking student, with the required proficiency in the English language, and sufficient financial support to study at a U.S. academic institution.
