Applying for a student (F-1) visa
You may be accepted by several different institutions and may receive more than one I-20 forms. If you are intending to attend Northeastern University, then you will need to use Northeastern’s I-20 to pay the SEVIS fee and apply for a student visa.
English Language Proficiency
The score report of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for all applicants whose native language is not English. Sometimes exceptions are made if a student has attended a United States institution for an extended period of time.
Graduate international applicants should contact the specific schools to which they have been admitted regarding English language proficiency requirements.

Financial Documentation Requirements
International students must provide financial documentation covering all expenses for one academic year. An estimate of cost is outlined on the Declaration & Certification of Finances (DCF) form. Costs typically increase up to 10 percent annually. Various documents are required, depending on the source of financial support (personal funds, parents or family, international organization, government agency, private sponsor).
Applicable expenses include tuition and fee, living expenses, expenses for dependents (spouse or children), miscellaneous expenses (books, supplies, medical insurance, personal expenses). All documents must be original or certified copies and dated within the current year. All funds must be shown in U.S. dollars.
